I've had my iPhone 6 64GB for a month now and on the third day of using it I started noticing the same issue... It gets really hot on the left upper top of my phone for no reason and as soon as it gets really hot there goes the battery... I took it to the store and told me that I have a healthy phone and all they recommended was to restore the phone back to its original settings which I did but that didn't help at all... I've 3 different iPhone models before this one which I used the same way I am using my iPhone 6 and I never had an issue like that.... Any other advices out there?

When I first received my iPhone 6 64g in November, I was actually boasting about battery life. It was pretty amazing. Somewhere between then and now, my battery drains by at least 20% within an hour - simply on idle! I have to constantly keep it charged while at my desk at work, and I keep a charger and cable with me everywhere I go. I went through all the motions - turning off background functions, alerts, sounds, etc., to no avail. It barely makes it through 5 hours of battery life, if I'm lucky. I typically leave my phone charging overnight, and this morning, it didn't even charge to 100%. It was at 82% charged. I'm trading it for a new one since it's still under warranty, and I hope I don't get a refurb. I'll be ******. I've never experienced this with any Apple product, and I'm so disappointed. I always thought that battery issues were due to users not knowing what they're doing. I'm hoping it's just a lemon. Actually, Apple should hope it's just a lemon.

To all still reading this post. I had the problem from day one of the iPhone 6 (128gb) on launch day and called support even sent to the Genius Bar with no help having followed all their suggestions turning off every conceivable notification service etc. even a clean install about a month ago and then restoring pictures and music separately nothing helped. They said it was because I lived in a marginal cell service area so the constant searching for signal was to blame. I had given up. AND then an unrelated accident happened and shattered the screen to make it unusable. I have Apple Care Plus (and a unlocked phone). They replaced the whole phone I restored from a backup to the new phone and now I have normal battery life. Moral of this story. I'm convinced it was the first phone's either a lemon or the triple flash memory used in the early first production phones. If you're having this issue replace your phone.
