Where I live there are no Apple Stores, so I have to mail the phone to Apple Brazil and wait to get it back (fixed or replaced by a new one) for approximately 2-3 weeks...

I had the same issue with my 5S weeks ago, after 8.1.1 was released it went back to normal. I can only assume it was a software issue fixed by the 8.1.1 release; and that something similar is happening to my iPhone 6...

Have you tried the standard troubleshooting tips?

First Reboot Your Phone: Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your phone will restart.

Give it a day after that to see if the usage goes to a more normal level.

If that doesn't help, the next step is to Restore your phone. To restore, this link will walk you through the steps:

Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support

One last thought. I know this task will not be fun. But have you restored your phone as though it was new and manually moved apps, pics, music etc., over? Sometimes restoring from backup, which is by far the easiest way to go, also reintroduces the gremlin which could be effecting your phone.

Again, it's a lot of work, but you might want to give it a try if you haven't already.

To do this, you go to Settings > General > Erase > Erase All Content and Settings

Then you connect your phone to your computer and in iTunes move apps over one by one, music, photos, etc., until you have the content you need.

I had this issue and called Apple and the software test showed that the O/S was corrupted. I then took the phone to the Apple service centre and they returned the phone to me saying that "we restored the phone, updated the firmware and re-adjusted the connectors - problem resolved "

since then the phone has NOT been heating up as before, the CPU's are not firing 100% indicating crashed but the battery drain is still there. I loose about 20 % battery on a 15-20 mins call.

Apple still says that they would have to look into this which is a concern for me cause I'm almost ****** at taking the **** device to the store again and again like a guinea pig.

Need to find someone i can report this to.

My first thought is that WHY WERE THE CONNECTORS ADJUSTED - Clearly indicating a hardware issue. In this case, the device should have been replaced. Not that i bought a cheap motorola phone !!

Last night I put my iphone 6 into my pocket while having dinner at a restaurant.

when we were ready to leave, I reached into my pocket and my phone was VERY hot- very, very hot.

And at that point, I noticed it had 37% battery left.

After a 20 minute drive home, not using my phone, the battery was dead and the phone shut off.

this is the first time it happened but I am concerned about the heat buildup.

Guys,

Finally i managed to solve the riddle. Apple came back to me again stating that the battery was normal which got me thinking if this was a O/S issue. I kept testing the device and came across the Battery usage tests (Settings > General > Usage > Battery usage) to display Usage | Standby which were showing close values. I tested the phone with killing apps to see if it was any app which could not let the phone sleep.

Amazingly, i found that when on Wifi, the values remained close indicating that it was something over Wifi which is not letting the phone sleep.

Thereafter i tested the phone with my Mac over an application called Activity Monitor to display the processes which start when i start wifi. There were 2 processes which were invoked - Bird and CloudD. Narrowing this down brought it to be processes liked to iCloud Drive.

As soon as i disabled Cloud Drive ( iCloud > iCloud Drive), my phone was back to great battery performance.

I am yet to figure out more about this problem but this fixed the phone battery draining issue over Wifi.

Hope this helps !
