iOS 8 voice dialing, "Just to confirm..."

What a huge step backward in the usability of my iPhone. Instead of telling Siri, "call Mom mobile" and getting the response "calling Mom mobile" followed by the call going through, Siri now responds with, "Just to confirm, would you like to call Mom?". It may not sound like much but that extra step plus the required response from me makes it slower to use voice dialing than to remove the phone from my pocket and dial the number. Oh please let there be a way to switch this 'feature' off.

Had the same problem and the only permanent fix I found is to delete the contact and re-enter from scratch. Not a good solution for a huge phone book, but at least for the numbers you call most often. Worked for me.

ios 8 is the buggiest thing I've ever seen from apple. Things like this, iphoto events in random order and contacts losing custom ringtones makes me wonder if it's time to give android another look...

I think I may have found somewhat of a workaround. From my testing, it doesn't happen if the contact is in my Favorites. Doesn't matter whether the person has one phone number or multiple, I get no "just to confirm" if they're in my Faves...

Hopefully someone else can confirm this. And I recommend we all head over to http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html to let them know how we feel, and ask for the option to turn it off, at the very least!

Good luck!

No one from Apple "officially" reads these boards, but I sure hope someone from their QA team does!

The recommended way to make sure someone hears you is to use their feedback page at:

http://apple.com/feedback

...and here's the specific page for iPhone feedback, where you'd want to report your experiences with this new behavior:

Good luck!

Just came across this thread while researching the "confirm" behavior with one contact (that I've noticed so far). Having read through all of this, it occurred to me that I may have more than one entry for the contact in question. I did, though I'm not sure how, have two contacts with the exact same information (company name, work address and phone number). I deleted one of them and asked Siri to call the company name. It worked without asking for me to confirm that I wanted to call the contact.

I suspect Siri was not asking me if I wanted to make a call but was asking me to confirm which of the two contacts I had that I wanted to call... possibly the first, but that's only a guess.

So, in case it helps, you may want to search through your contacts for duplicate entries. It may not be an exact duplicate of all fields, but if you've got overlapping information across more than one contact it could be prompting Siri's "confirm" function to verify which of the contacts you want to use.

Good luck!
