I have the same problem. I can sync if I plug my iPad Air in, but not over wifi. I've tried checking and unchecking, rebooting my computer, rebooting the device ... nothing works.

Wifi sync is just completely broken by iOS 8 for me. It worked fine after upgrading to iTunes 11.4 with iOS 7, but the upgrade to 8 broke it. I'm on OS X 10.9.5, and my iPhone 5 on iOS 7.1.2 still syncs perfectly over wifi.

Disappointing that iOS 8 is another buggy x.0 release from Apple.

Same here. Never had issues before. Updated my iPad Air and my iPhone 5 and now they don't appear in the Devices list anymore. If I plug them into my MBP then they work fine.

One thing that worked (temporarily) for me was to power off the devices, then power them back on. They both appeared in the Devices list and I was able to sync them. But that only worked for a short time. Eventually they disappear and you have to either plug them in again or reboot them.

I have an older iPod Touch that can't be updated to iOS 8 and it appears every single time. So this is clearly something peculiar to iOS 8.

This is a huge pain.

OK, I think I found a fix (well, a work-around), at least for me, and so far.

Settings>General>Handoff & Suggested Apps, turn "Handoff" OFF.

Then, to be safe, I did a double-hard-reset (while unplugged and turned off, I held down the Wake and Home buttons until the Apple appeared, disappeared, and appeared again). I then unlocked the device with my passcode, and now WiFi sync is working as I would expect.

Worked on all 4 of my iOS devices - iPhone 5S, iPad Air, iPad Mini, and iPod touch.

Dang it, I was afraid of this - the fix is temporary. Got up this morning and found that iTunes was no longer seeing the devices. But after turned I them off and then back on again, it does. Not sure how long the effect lasts, but it's less than 10 hours.
