iOS 8 WiFi sync is broken

Anyone noticed that something wrong with WiFi sync after iOS 8 update? Never had problems before, after upgrading my Air and 5S to iOS 8 WiFi sync is so slow and not always devices appear on iTunes.


MBA OS X Mavericks 10.9.5 latest

iPhone 5S, iPad air started as new from 0 iOS 8

This problem is back for me in iOS 10 and macOS Sierra with iTunes 12.5.1.

Both my iPhone 6s and my iPad Pro (big) have dropped off the iTunes device list. Quitting and restarting iTunes sometimes works, but not consistently. In one case after restarting iTunes, my iPad reappeared, but as soon as I clicked on its icon, iTunes quit unexpectedly.

Restarting my iMac fixes the issue, but only temporarily.

There used to be a suggestion to kill an iTunes helper process with Activity monitor, but that process name is not shown in macOS Sierra.

Everything was working in ElCapitan.

I was wrong about that. I relocated the article I remembered and the process name is AppleMobileDeviceHelper. My iPad is now showing in iTunes, but it's unclear whether killing that process in Activity Monitor did the trick.
