I've given up trying to get iTunes WiFi sync working. It's my hope that Apple is aware of the problem and that it will be repaired with OS X 10.10 and iTunes 12. My iPhone 6 is restored and the content is loaded correctly. I'm not gonna mess with it again and take the chance of corrupting the sync. I'll be using a cable to sync for a little while, thank you very much Apple.

As far as your understatement goes, it's pretty lame of Apple to break a useful feature that's been around since iOS 5. They sure look like they don't know what they're doing with their own products. This is not a small thread, nor does the problem seem limited to just a few users. I think it's safe to say that this is a widespread issue. Steve wouldn't have tolerated it; I'm surprised Tim has up to this point.

Well, I am now convinced at least that Apple is aware of the problem. Have been told many time that they don't read these forums all that much. This issue seems to have them looking. Proof is the fact that the thread is being moderated and some posts have been deleted. My own included for casting a bad review on iOS 8 I suppose. It's kinda' tough being a customer after all.

Just to add my experience...

Using IOS 8.0.2 on an IPAD 2, Itunes 11.4.0.18, Windows XP.

There is not even a glimmer of a wifi connection between the PC (iTunes) and the IPAD2. As soon as I remove the sync cable the IPAD disappears from the devices list in iTunes I have tried all the suggestions in the discussion but nothing works.

But wait... I have just switched off my Avast anti virus and the IPAD appeared in the device list. Is this a co-incidence... I don't know yet.

Later ..I turned Avast back on and the IPAD disappeared from the iTunes device list.

Later .. unable to reproduce above. Back to square 1.

None of my iOS 8 devices will wifi sync. But my iOS 7 devices sync fine (always have).

I have three devices running iOS 8

iPad Mini Retina iOS 8.0.2 -- iPad 3 iOS 8.0 -- iPhone 5s iOS 8.0.2

None of these devices Wifi sync. However, they all used to Wifi Sync at version 7.x.x.

I also have two devices running iOS 7

iPad 2 iOS 7.x.x -- Phone 5 iOS 7.x.x

Both of these devices are currently Wifi Syncing with out problem.

Because my ver. 7 devices are currently syncing, I have to assume the problem is with iOS 8 or some combination of iOS 8 and iTunes.

My computer is an early 2011 MacBook Pro with the latest version of Mavericks. iTunes also has the most recent update.

I'm having the same issues. I think that the iOS 8 update is the worst one yet with regards to functionality of the iPhone/ipad etc. it's totally screwed up syncing with iTunes, apps don't sync correctly.

I've tried the suggestions listed and nothing works on a permanent basis. Hopefully they get things fixed before Yosemite comes out and screws everything up even more.

Be sure to comment back if this actually works for more than a day. I am betting that as soon as you leave your wifi, connect to another, and then return to your own the connection and syncing will be lost. With one of the earliest versions of iOS this was in fact the fix... Reinstall iTunes. I think it is a much different problem now but, who knows.

Let's not confuse or stray from the issue. The title is WiFi Sync broken. Not USB. As someone pointed out, wifi syncing was perfect prior to iOS 8. Leads me also to believe that iOS 8 is the problem. There is also a problem with a number of apps in iOS 8. The biggest change in iOS is starting to look like the biggest bust.
