They have messed up bluetooth and usb car sync up. There are many threads. Mine was ok til ios 8. Now my car bluetooth won't pair (even after forgetting device and trying again). The phone sees it in list but they just don't connect. As a double blow my car had USB radio sync. So I could browse music app on the radio this way and play tracks. Now with ios 8 that is no longer working too. All the USB achieves now is charging the phone up. some defend apple saying the car manufacturers are too blame but the problem is pretty widespread. It's easier to change a phone than a car! It's not as if updating a radio firmware / car sync system is easy.

very dissapointed with apple, why do they mess about so much. If it ain't broken then don't try and fix it. They should of just kept doing point updates to ios 7 and got it really good and stable. It was pretty decent as it was. Instead ios 8 brings a raft of headaches. Maybe they will address it but I am suspecting not

iPhone 5 iOS 8 Bluetooth issues with Audi A1

I finally got my updated iPhone 5S to connect normally to my 2005 Lexus, but I don't know how.

I've seen all kinds of fix suggestions but have tried only a few. I agree with those who say "Reset All Settings" should not have to be done, and I never did that. I certainly did not restore "factory settings." I did, however, "Reset Network Settings" long ago and of course that didn't work. I've unpaired, restarted, re-paired, etc., and nothing worked. Luckily, I never installed 8.0.1, but I installed 8.0.2 last night. No help. Same problems as before.

This morning, thinking back on everyone's suggested fixes, I again unpaired from phone and car, then renamed my phone and paired once again. No one else was home, so with my iPhone in the car in my garage, I called it from my land line and went back to the garage to see if the call would be received. I had turned on the radio in the house so there would be audio if my car connected to the call (which it did). The song playing was "Knowing Me, Knowing You" - maybe that's why the call connected…

Although I've tried only two each incoming and outgoing calls, my connections worked and the indications on my navigation display were the same as under iOS 7. I have no idea if my fix was due to the 8.0.2 update (not advertised as addressing car Bluetooth issues) or if it was due to renaming my phone. All I know is that my 5S has made and received "Hands Free" calls for the first time since iOS 7.

Anyway, renaming your phone is far simpler than "Reset All Settings" and it might be worth a try if you're still having problems (Settings > General > About > Name).

My car can connect only phone calls via Bluetooth, so I can't report on iTunes streaming.

I'll report back my problems reoccur. Thanks to all who've posted. Good luck!

Warning!

I had the same problems with both my 2010 Prius and 2014 Range Rover Autob.

Tried this fix, and now my iPhone will not start! It just lights up with the Apple sign, and rebooting it from ITunes dose not work either.

Another visit to the Apple Store first thing in the morning...

This is just not good enough.

Apple have pushed out an update / phone that has broken functionality in so many makes/models of car it's ridiculous.

In summary:

  • Pretty much any other kind of phone continues to work in these countless makes/models of affected vehicles.
  • For all the posted work arounds (beyond anyone not on this forum), most continue to have issues.
  • iPhone users are frustrated beyond believe.
  • iPhone users may be breaking the law now they no longer have hands-free communication

The reality is someone, somewhere, has probably been killed as a result of the distraction caused by this.

Be accountable Apple.

People have historically paid a bit more to buy your products because they come to expect perfection. This situation is a joke, as is putting out iOS 8.0.1 that broke phones.

Pick up your game.

I also have the same problem with the iPhone 5S and my 2007 Lexus ES350. Everything worked perfect until I did the update to iOS 8. I thought the problem would be fixed after the 8.0.2 update but it still doesn't work. I have paired and unpaired my phone several times to no avail. I even reset network settings. I don't know what else to try.

I am so upset. I finally switched to iPhone in January and all these software issues are really making rethink my decision. Somebody help! I need my car's Bluetooth.

😠 😢 😕 😟

I also have a problem with the bluetooth in the IOS 8.0/8.0.2

since I update the IOS for the IOS 8.0 I have a problem using the bluetooth in my car (Mazda 6 2008). The iPhone connects to the car bluetooth system and works fine, the only problem is when I make a call, I don't hear the ringing sound, only start to listen when the person answers the call. If the person dont answer the call I dont even know if Im making a call or not because there is no ringing sound.

I think that this Is a problem with the IOS, it appears tha the iPhone only uses the bluetooth when the call is answer and not when I start to call.

In the previous versions of IOS everything works fine. I've tried to restore the last backup, hard reset, reset the network configurations, remove and pair the iPhone with the car again, but nothing works.

Now im using the IOS 8.0.2 but the issue still remains.

Anyone with the same issue?

Thanks
