IOS 8 Home button bug

After upgrading to IOS 8 when I press the home button once to exit an app it is registered as a double click and brings me to the multitasking app switcher instead of the home screen. This didn't happen on IOS 7 - I've got an iPhone 5. Any ideas?

Same here. I tried the re-calibration "fix." It only made the problem go away for a minute or so. I tried this "fix" of turning off the "show in app switcher," and likewise it seemed to fix the problem, but it came right back.

I'll be stopping by the Apple store soon to figure out what they say about this nonsense.

I mean, it would be easiest to switch back to OS7, but I really, REALLY like the Manual app (best 4 bucks I've ever spent). I'm willing to put up with this problem so I can keep that app.

Hi,

lets hope that the update does fix it. I think there are much more people affected but most of them

think that the home button is broken by themselfes. So they go to Apple (they will know about that bug) and

Apple tells them to change the button does fix it, then for the 30€, the people think it's cheap

so please change it...

It's really sad that not even one comment from Apple to this topic. Nothing...Still too much people buy iPhones...

We are not important..

But the time will pay back hopefully...

My iPhone 6 order is canceled...my Macbook air is off the wishlist...usually i will save a lot of money!!

Please all, at least send a link to this thread to Bugreport, more mails more priority.

Seeing as (a) everyone who has tried 8.1beta says it's fixed, and (b) everyone who has replaced their home button (whether themselves or at a Genius Bar) has discovered that fixes it too, can we possibly all agree that the world isn't going to come to an end after all?

There are two possible fixes. The forthcoming iOS 8.1, or a hardware fix if you're brave. Guys, this one is solved.

Yup 3 days on iOS 8.1 and not one occurrence of this annoying bug. Not sure why folks are replacing home buttons. The only thing I can think of is that it has something to do with the fact that we don't have the fingerprint scanner, but then folks with iPads aren't complaining so who knows. All I will say is that it's poor form that Apple hasn't participated in this thread.

For those of us patiently waiting for 8.1, I think I've found a solution in the meantime.

I noticed a correlation between the number of apps I had open in multitasking and the frequency that a single tap was being registered as a double...once I closed all apps in the multitasking window, the bug disappeared. In fact, it didn't return until I had about 10 apps in multitasking. So, close your apps - that should get us through until the next update 🙂
