IOS 8 Home button bug

After upgrading to IOS 8 when I press the home button once to exit an app it is registered as a double click and brings me to the multitasking app switcher instead of the home screen. This didn't happen on IOS 7 - I've got an iPhone 5. Any ideas?

I'm also having this problem on an iPhone 5. It seems like it onot affects old hardware, which suggests to me that it's either a worn out home button or less capable phones that struggle. After a few presses the button seems to behave a little better for a while. Therefore in my case at least I suspect it may be a button hardware issue. im going to the Genius Bar for a battery swap next week, and will ask them if they can replace my button too. Will report back if it helps.

Sorry folks! I spoke too soon! The solution I pointed to above seemed to give me some relief from the problem, but it was temporary. This morning, my home button is still pretty wonky. This is definitely a software issue. I would imagine that the home button on an iPhone 6 is different than on previous models. The software that manages the input from the button may have some problems on earlier phones. Jus conjecture on my part. If so, the fix should be doable. Let's hope it's included in the first patch for ios 8!

same thing over here. iphone 5 ios 8.

never had this probrem berfore updating.

in my case it's very annoying because my sleep/wake button doesn't work and i am using assentive touch already, so when i press once the home button it response as two clicks. if i press twice it exits assentive touch, then i have to press the home button again 3 times to activate back assentive touch.

very annoying!!! hope there will an update soon to fix this cause its a software problem for sure.

Restarting or resetting your phone is not a solution to everything. When many are having the same problem restarting the phone is not going to solve software bugs. I myself am having the same issues that everyone stated above.
