IOS 8 Home button bug

After upgrading to IOS 8 when I press the home button once to exit an app it is registered as a double click and brings me to the multitasking app switcher instead of the home screen. This didn't happen on IOS 7 - I've got an iPhone 5. Any ideas?

Finally I was able to find a thread about this! I have been on the verge of chucking my phone, that is how annoyed I have been. 😠 I had such a horrible upgrade and then to come to this.

Try the calibration. I can't vouch for how long this will work, but it helped me short term so far. Hopefully a bug fix comes. I had iOS 7, with no issues on my iPhone 5.

Good luck everyone! 🙂

I had the same issue, and I just downgraded back to IOS 7 and the issue went away. So it's definitely a bug in IOS 8. Super annoying. IOS 7 performs way better on my 4S anyhow, though, so I think I'm going to stick to 7.1.2 even if/when this bug is fixed..

If you want to downgrade to IOS 7, follow the instructions here:

TThis is ridiculous it makes me wonder if those idiots at Apple did their testing of ios8 on older devices because this update has turn my iPhone 4s into a piece of garbage its extremely slow buggy and draining battery twice as fast as with ios7 i have tried All of the tips you guys have giving but nothing works it's really frustraded to how to put up with their inability to make the right call to which device should upgrade.

I have this problem on iphone 5. I can't calibrate because my sleep/wake button is broken and I am using AssistiveTouch. I did not have this problem before iOS 8 upgrade (I was on iOS 7 previously.) I would love this to be fixed, as it's fairly maddening to use my iPhone and not know the what is going to happen when I push the home button.

UPDATE

The calibration only worked for a short time. I restored to an old backup, due to the problem I had with updating and losing my cloud backup. I ended up back with iOS 8, not by choice. Anyhow, still having the home button problem on my iPhone 5. I also have noticed lagging on things that I never had problems with before, and that was after my update, and prior to my restore....I had oodles of open memory.

Same problem here, most of the time I'm using app switcher to close and switch apps constantly. Double clicks are definitely being registered as triple when I don't want it to and single clIcks are sometimes double. It's wasting so much time playing wack-a-mole trying to close apps right now that I'm starting to go insane.
