After upgrading to IOS 8 when I press the home button once to exit an app it is registered as a double click and brings me to the multitasking app switcher instead of the home screen. This didn't happen on IOS 7 - I've got an iPhone 5. Any ideas?

I removed the Swiftkey keyboard from my phone and it seems to have solved the problem! If you've downloaded yours, see if that works for you as well.
Unbelieveable!!! Thank you so much! I just deleted Swiftkey from my iPhone, and the home button is now behaving normally as well!!!

Guess I'll download it then delete it and report back.
I take it back. Swiftkey seems to have made the problem worse, but I am still seeing it. I'd say that about 10% of the time, a single click puts me into the program switcher.

I deleted SwiftKey and rebooted my phone by holding down the sleep/wake and home button until it rebooted and I still have the issue on my iPhone 5. This is iOS 8, not 8.01. I'm afraid of updating given the issues others have reported today.
Bottom line, deleting SwiftKey doesn't work universally.

I don't see an update to 8.01 on my phone at all...
It seems apple retired the update due to more problems...Do not install it at the moment.
Add me to the list of people seeing this issue. I have never downloaded Swiftkey. I started noticing this problem after upgrading to iOS8. I have not had much problem with single-clicks being interpreted as doubles. But am having frequent problems with doubles being interpreted as triples.
same here with my 4S. I'm thinking of going to the apple store to see what they say since apple doesn't appear to be doing anything about it
