Seem to have lost the ability to slide a song title or album title in Music app on an iPad that has been upgraded to iOS a 8 to delete a song/album. In addition, cannot find the Music app listed under usage data which was the method to delete all songs. Is this bug in iOS8 on an iPad?

Settings>General>Usage>Manage Storage>Music> is where you can delete albums and songs. Swiping across songs in the songs list still works for me. Perhaps you should try closing the Music app and reset the iPad.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Swtchld's solution solved the problem for me. I had over 100 songs on my iphone that could not be removed. I plugged the iphone into iTunes and removed all music using iTunes, and then I went into Settings-General-Usage-Manage Storage-Music, selected Edit, and removed All Songs. I still had more than 100 songs on my iPhone that were just untouchable. I turned on Show All Music, downloaded those 100 phantom songs from the iCloud and swiped left to Delete them after each download. Now they are gone!
iPhone 6+ iOS 8.2. Doesn't work. There are "remnants" of iCould songs. Cannot delete them and "Music" not showing up in Usage.
IIf I take my iPad to the Apple Store will they be able to remove the U2 songs
I don't hink that you have to take the iPad to an Apple Store. Go here and follow the instructions.

Did you try swiping across the songs in the songs tab to try to get the red delete button?
IRonically ally this only plays them the exact thing I'd don't want to do.
they have a cloud symbol, I have tried then downloading them to the iPad to delete them I then delet them and they go back to still being there with a cloud symbol even after the opt out link that I have carried out.
IF I take it to the apple shop they will be able to do it right ?
I Would hope that an Apple Store could delete them for you. I'm not sure why the link isn't working.
One last try. Go to Settings>iTunes and App Store>Show all>Music>Off. Sign out of your ID as well in Settings>ITunes & App Store>Apple ID. Then restart your iPad. Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Sign in again. Try the removed tool one more time. If that doesn't do it, I am out of ideas.

Demo's idea worked for me also on both my iPad 3 and iPad Air 2. What a relief. I've spent hours on this problem. FYI, the Music app appears only intermittently in General/Usage/Manage Storage on the iPad Air 2. (It's now gone.) It never appears on the iPad 3, though it was there before IOS 8.
