iPhone 6 Plus vibration is ridiculously loud... is this normal?

Hi guys

I received my iPhone 6 Plus today, and my wife updated to an iPhone 6 4.7", which also arrived today.

I have just switched it to silent, and the vibration is INCREDIBLY loud! My wife's non-Plus iPhone is absolutely normal, and sounds like our older iPhones on vibrate mode.

But the 6 Plus is insane... basically when it's being held in the hand or in a pocket, the vibration sound is as loud as most phones sound when they vibrate on a wooden table.

I'm wondering if this is normal, or whether I have a faulty iPhone 6 Plus.

Keen for any 6 Plus owners to share their experience with the vibrate mode and how loud it is when just held in the hand - especially compared to the smaller iPhone 6 or to the iPhone 5.

Cheers and thanks guys!

Mike

I just had to replace my first 6 plus because the receiver ear piece was distorting and buzzing. The first unit vibrated loudly and strongly. The second unit that I'm on now has a much weaker vibrate function. I can't even feel it in my pocket, I just can't win! I'm also noticing that the Key Click volume on the keyboard is much quieter on this unit as well. If only I could find a unit with a strong vibrate function, louder key clicks and a working earpiece I'd be set.

I went through lot of procedures and had my iphone6+ replaced and now the vibration have no adnormal sound like "ting ting" as if in boxing ring!

Just sharing my experiece, hope anyone else experiencing the same issue doesn't need to go through bad procedure~!

My cellphone provider (Singapore) refused to replace the phone, they mention it is an standard issue as another person reported the same issue next to me but to blamed it is 6+ design flaw!

So I left and called AppleCare to logged a case (ticket number), then visited my provider again for the same issue. Then they called AppleCare to clarificed my case which took 3hrs (lotsa argument and explanation) and then agreed to replace for me!

Just got back from my appointment today. They were reluctant to replace it for me, saying this would be the only exception due to how the phone is just a week old. So if I were to have the same issue, I can't get another replacement. The unit I have now is only marginally better. The first one had a lower "buzzing" tone that was definitely noticeable; this one just has a slightly higher tone. The loudness is kinda of still there. I guess I just have to live with this.

I bought the 6 first then traded for the plus and I believe the vibrate is not only quieter on the 6 a lot stronger vibration as well over the 6 plus but the 6 plus does sound like its rattling the housing more or something is loose. I also think the external speaker is louder on the 6 vs the 6 plus. Kind of surprised considering the 6 plus is supposed to be the top of the line model. Seriously though next time you are in an apple store or a store that is displaying both models check it out for yourselves and let me know your opinion.

Just got my 6 Plus in the mail today and I'm sad to say I have this issue. Not good at all to have what seems to be a hardware flaw right out of the box. To make matters even worse... I just submitted a sim unlock request through AT&T for my 6 Plus about 10 mins before finding the vibration issue. If I end up having to replace my phone I just lost that unlock I'm assuming.

A fresh unboxing is supposed to be happy times! 😢

For what it's worth... I'm also switching from the 6 to the 6 plus. Still have my 6 sitting in front of me now and the vibration is just as strong minus the rattling sound.

I brought mine by the local Apple store, and they concluded that 6+es are just designed that way. They compare it to three or so others they had in the back room (where it was quiet). I did a quick comparison to a couple on the floor, and, yes, it probably was about the same. I haven't yet had a chance to compare it to my coworker friend's.

I think I will file feedback with Apple, and then just shut off the vibrator.
