iPhone 6 Plus vibration is ridiculously loud... is this normal?

Hi guys

I received my iPhone 6 Plus today, and my wife updated to an iPhone 6 4.7", which also arrived today.

I have just switched it to silent, and the vibration is INCREDIBLY loud! My wife's non-Plus iPhone is absolutely normal, and sounds like our older iPhones on vibrate mode.

But the 6 Plus is insane... basically when it's being held in the hand or in a pocket, the vibration sound is as loud as most phones sound when they vibrate on a wooden table.

I'm wondering if this is normal, or whether I have a faulty iPhone 6 Plus.

Keen for any 6 Plus owners to share their experience with the vibrate mode and how loud it is when just held in the hand - especially compared to the smaller iPhone 6 or to the iPhone 5.

Cheers and thanks guys!

Mike

I Have the same issue on my day old iPhone 6 plus 128GB Space Grey from Verizon. The vibration sounds very loud and annoying like an electronic battery powered shaver. Saw someone's comment about a movie theater may be posting a sign "if you have the iPhone 6 plus to power it completely off!" I was not planning on spending close to $700.00 for a flagship model phone with a lot of memory, apple leather case and Apple care + for a device That turns out to be like this! There was a $30.00 upgrade fee as well tacked on. I think I need to go back to the apple store to check the display models to confirm if it is the phone or just a bad design. I went through a tough time trying to find one of these in stock so I been on the phone with apple now for an hour and 15 minutes. May be going back to my 5S if this cane be resolved. I can't have an obnoxiously loud vibrating phone while I'm at work!

From comparing to other 6+es, and talking with Apple Store folks, this an inherent design flaw - maybe an inherently unsolvable one. In short, the only way they could get a massive object (literally massive - having high mass) like a 6+ to vibrate, was to put a massive vibrator onto it, and that inherently makes a lot of sound.

Yeah I just came back from the store about an hour ago. They were very helpful and we tried many different steps to compare including testing about 3 display phones and 5 employee phones too. One display phone was pretty quiet however it was located towards the front of the store where it is very noisy. There are no other options available nor resources other than to disable the vibration part if the loud noise is that annoying. Really disappointed after spending $700.00 on Apple's top of the line phone. Everyone mentioning about 6 plus model being very loud with the vibration is correct. They offered me a full refund or to swap the phone out but they were afraid the different phone would sound the same with the loud vibration due to the testing and verification of other phones in the same model family as well doing the same exact thing. I guess sometimes you need to bite the bullet with something new as everything is not perfect but still, in my opinion, that can be a huge issue for those in quiet office buildings, library's and or even court houses where your loud battery powered shaver sounding phone vibrating can be heard across the room.

I Just got my 6 plus and this is the first day that I have needed to silence it. This thing is abnoxious when it vibrates! I did find a solution though. Go into sounds and make a custom vibrate pattern that is just a mild tap, tap, tap. This is way better that the factory vibrate pattern on mine. This may solve many of your problems. I know it is the solution for me.

***? I have exactly the opposite problem as to dozens and dozens of other forum posters. There is literally NO vibration sound or intensity and we are all missing calls. I will not be purchasing another iphone. They are seriously trying to do too much in too short of a time frame. How can you have a phone that angers people because either the vibrate is too intense/loud or totally not present in either vibration intensity or sound? Doesn't that by default infer a HUGE hardware issue? Please recall these things and get them fixed or bring the price down to about $50! Cuz that's all they're worth with all these freaking bugs!

I Just got the iPhone 6. The vibration is very loud and jolting.

when I purchased it from Bell they hadn't offered me any hardware warranty or AppleCare (oops) and it had slipped my mind, as well.

luckily, there are barely any iPhone 6 left in my city. I am hoping to take it back just before the 2-weeks is up (I can exchange or return it within that time) in hopes there won't be another 6 available. Maybe they'll give me a 7 to replace it! The connection to the service provider has been spotty, as well, which is not normal where I live.
