accessibility zoom in iOS 8 problems

Hello all!

i am visually impaired and i have ben using iOS and mac devices for many years

Especially in iOS, zoom feature is so handy that helped me so much with my daily tasks!

Everything was working perfectly until iOS 8

I know iOS 8 brought many features for people with disabilities and made improvements for people with vision loss

I'm experiencing 2 issues

1. When zooming in if you tap once there is a new black dialogue window with different features that is quite annoying and you have to tap somewhere else so as to disappear (this can't be disabled from settings,) and i am not talking about the controller

2. Zooming in now isn't that accurate and smooth...i have turned on "Zoom on focus" but still zooming in with the three finger gesture isn't that smooth

has anyone had any similar experiences?i hope they fix this since this is on of the main reasons why i seriously love apple. Because it had all people with disabilities in mind and added features when none else even cared!

Same here, this does not solve the problem. The zoom keeps returning to windowed mode.

You need to double tap with three fingers and the lock screen will reset to normal size. Just happened to me.

Tried the iphone 6 and 6+ in the stores. both have zoom issues. and is the reason why i havent bought it. I was just wondering if the problem is solved on the latest version release as of today.

to apple: I am doing very fine with the old zoom feature. improvements are uncalled for if it is going to be like that.

According to the change log of the ios 8.1:

Guided Access has been beefed up, and now works without any sort of bugs.

VoiceOver now works with third-party keyboards, which failed to work at times before.

Stability and audio quality have been improved when using MFI Hearing aids with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Issues regarding tone dialing has been fixed when VoiceOver was being used.

Bluetooth keyboards and Braille displays with VoiceOver enabled now offer improved reliability.

will install new version on ipad and let everyone know if the problem still exists

I just installed 8.1 on my ipad. the zoom problem still exist.

Specifically, there is a delay with magnifications after double tap with 3 fingers.

I have also launch a feedback to apple, hopefully things will turn out fine in the next release.

thats a shame since this is the main feature that allow all of us with visual impairment access to all then rest of the features of the OS

silly question.can let us know where can we leave feedback for this as well?

if we are many and please all of you do this maybe apple can fix this faster

Same problem here!

apple please fix the lag!

And make sure if I set it to fullscreen. I never see the window zoom!

o i found a small ''fix''

i you only zoon with ''double press three fingers and drag" you'll not see the windowed zoom. ( i also reduces the lag somewhat. but the smoothness still *****

I have experienced the issue where it doesn't stick with my "full screen zoom" preference. What I've discovered is that it "forgets" my preference when I try to zoom in with the keyboard visible. Then it switches to "window zoom" and doesn't go back until I reset it in Preferences or by triple-three-finger tapping to get the zoom control box. As long as the app in question doesn't have a keyboard displayed, it's fine.

For example, when looking at Instagram, it zooms full screen. If I try to add a comment to someone's post in IG, then it switches to "window zoom" with the window focused on the screen portion above the keyboard. I suspect that is by design, but the bug is that it no longer recognizes my zoom preference when I get OUT of the keyboard.

as i have mentioned to everyone experiencing issues with the known bugs for the zoom feature in ios 8

it would be best fi we ll do a feedback to apple and hopefully they will listen to our worries

this is an important thing for us and we need to get this fixed!

we are not asking for a new feature

we are asking for a feature that was brought to us ages ago and made us love apple since the company is miles ahead as concerns accessibility software on their devices

so yes we want this to work as it used to be!

Maybe I have found a solution to the frustrating problem with the Zoom Window coming up when you actually want the Full screen on the time.

I have also experienced that the issue wit window zoom comes when there is a keyboard.

In fact there is a setting under Zoom in settings where you can choose to follow focus - and if you enable that there comes a possibility to select "zoom keyboard" underneath. If you enable this it seems as if the Zoom Window problem disappears.

I am from Denmark so my english is not perfect - but I hope understandable.
