accessibility zoom in iOS 8 problems

I'M glad I found this topic because I have also vision problems and the zoom fonctionality is very useful to me. The only problem I have (and a big one) is in both my iPad 4 and iPhone 6+. Almost once a day, when I zoom in with 3 fingers, the screen will completly lock up and I can't zoom out anymore. The only thing I can do is hard reset the iPhone by pressing the power button and the home button and then on the lock screen zoom out (it will work after restart) or just wait and eventualy the springboard will crash and restart by itself.

I Rarely use zoom since it crash my devices too much. I hope a fix will come some day. I use the shortcut to invert the colors. For me it will help me to read text most of the time.

I have been working with a senior advisor on an open case escalated to engineering and we are looking for the community to help provide Apple with more information so they can fix the defect. Please visit the other thread to see how you can help us.

There re is some anecdotal evidence that suggests the problem may have improved in iOS 8.4 but it is not fixed.

It's been months since the new OS has come out. I have been avoiding the upgrade to iOS 8 solely because of this problem. There have been numerous updates and patches that don't address the problem. Now the prior OS isn't as well supported and I've been forced to make an "upgrade" that makes the phone useless to visually impaired persons such as myself. You eveun flaunt the feature's "usefulness" in the tips app.

Apple, please fix this. You're driving customers away and acting as if you don't care about us.

I am also visually impaired (Stargardt). I didn't tried IOS8 but I recently installed IOS9.2 and many of the issues you mentioned are still not fixed.

- When scrolling with 3 fingers in full screen zoom mode, the scroll is really too fast and unusable. This behavior only happens if I zoom, then slide with 3 fingers and put my fingers out of the screen before finishing the slide. In this case, the slide goes very fast and very far...

- When tapping 3 times instead of twice with 3 fingers, I have a zoom menu which I can't inactivate

- I also had problems with switching from full screen to window screen and also think that this issue is linked with the follow focus option.

I also have another issue which only concern my Ipad and not my iPhone, when I activate follow focus and smart typing, the zoom window doesn't contains the text I'm typing. The window stops just above the text so cannot see any better the text I'm typing.

Do you know if there is a way to open some defects or enhancement request to Apple ?

Sorry, I hadn't read all the pages of this topic. I now know were to send feedback to apple and I will do it.

Hope that they will one day take care of our issues even if it doesn't affects most of the apple users...
