Is the error something like UF or something to that effect? I would be calling Samsung if it was me, no matter how computer deficient I seemed to be. Especially if the printer is not that old.

I've had my HP printer since AirPrint first came out. I bought it especially for that purpose. It has worked flawlessly through many iOS updates. Just saying.

Yeah, it's a URF error. I did chat with Samsung and got disconnected while they were leading up to an AirPrint error in the programming. One of the other posters got an answer that Samsung said wait for new firmware. Hoping there will be new Samsung firmware for my Airprint printer that will be within my ability and patience to work with. I still can print with my Kindle hdx and my windows laptop. Also, the Samsung mobile app works on my iPad through Google cloud, but very awkwardly. None of this should be so hard. Thanks for your time.

Yes, I updated the firmware on my Samsung C460W using the exe file for Windows (it's on their website, at least for the C460W) - had to dust down my old laptop PC for this. I left the printer connected to my WiFi network as usual, and simply added a USB cable between the printer and laptop. No need to reset anything or turn the printer off. I can't remember if it asked for the administration settings, but if it does then by default for Samsung the log-in is admin and the password sec00000.

When you click on the exe file, a window opens on your PC showing your printer - just check the box and continue. If you have an older version of firmware, you may have to install the upgrade exe file first: look at the accompanying Excel file in the Samsung download to find your firmware version. When it's done just unplug the cable - again, nothing to reset or turn off, it should all now work.

ChrisJ4203, Etomkins and NickCoote:

I had an Dell B1265dfw and prior to upgrading IOS 8.2 everything was printing flawlessly on all my IOS devices. Since the upgrade I've got nothing but frustration. I've upgraded the printer's firmware, reboot and reset the router and all my IOS devices, uninstalled and reinstalled the printer and was even on the phone for severals hour over a period of 3 days with an different Dell Tech each time. They remoted in to my laptop, checked all the updates and network connection and everything was on par. Came to the conclusion that maybe my printer was "defected" and a replacement was sent. Lo and behold, same problem. Dell went as far as sending me a second replacement printer, all with the same result. Getting extremely frustrated with Dell I sent all three printers back believing that this particular model, B1265dfw was just sucky so I downgraded to another printer, B1165dfw... that printer does NOT print from any IOS devices either. It does however, prints from my Androids devices and laptop wirelessly without any problems which lead me to now believe that the printing issues really arises from Apple's upgrade. I contacted Apple and spoke with a specialist and she too walked me through all the trouble shooting without any luck. As of now I am waiting to hear back from one of the tech specialist. So I've done all my due diligence... unless one of you guys can suggest something differently.

Well, I was finally able to figure out how to install the Samsung firmware to my Windows PC laptop based on Nick's email and the Samsung log-in admin and the password sec0000 to my Windows PC. The firmware wirelessly loaded to my Samsung M2825DW. I restarted the printer and the iPad and guess what -- AirPrint works. What a hassle. No one at Samsung was able to tell me that. Thank you so much. What about the poor folks who don't have an old laptop and just have an iPad? thanks thanks thanks.

Well, looking at the AirPrint list, About AirPrint that Dell printer does not even appear on the AirPrint supported list. There is a B1165, but it is the B1165nfw, not B1165dfw. Again, the list that is published there is provided to Apple by the printer manufacturers and they are the ones that claim the printers work. Good luck working on the issue, but I cannot recommend any further troubleshooting, since it appears that you have done what you can.

Sorry for the typo, I do currently have B1165nfw. Oddly enough, printer may have Dell's logo but in fact it is manufactured by Samsung. I am just frustrated in having to lose the convenience of having AirPrint but more so annoyed that no one is owing up to the problem. It just keeps getting deferred to one or the other and all I asked for is it to be resolved with a fix for everyone that is dealing with the same problem but I do appreciate your input. Thank you.

It is funny that you say the printer is manufactured by Samsung, when it seems the majority of this thread revolves around Samsung printers. Seems they have released a fix, if you read the post just below yours. Maybe you can use that information if you talk to Dell again, or maybe just see if there is a firmware update listed on the support site, rather than speaking to someone that does not seem to know what they are talking about.

I have chatted online with Dell support, she said "As we were advised, Dell is currently developing a firmware that will enable Apple devices to be compatible to our printers that are using the iOS 8 version." but no date can be given. Meanwhile, she suggested me to use the "Mobile Print App for Dell" from the Apple store. http://www.dell.com/support/Article/us/en/19/SLN285034/EN

I intalled the App and it can't find my printer on the network but yet, my Android devices has no problem printing through the App. Did Dell actually acknowledged that the problem now lies within them and not Apple? I've spent a total of 15 hours with Dell over the course of 3 days and Ive got the time log to prove it. However, during all that time Dell never acknowledged that they will resolve the issue in regards to updating their firmware but instead the problem stemmed from Apple and that I should deal with them. Funny how you were advised differently then me. It be great if Dell posted that on their website so that we know a "fix" is in the work. By the way, how are we to know when it's ready to upgrade the firmware?
