After upgrade to iOS 8 is impossible to print with network printers with my iphone 5s, anyone have the same problem? My friend with iOS7 use the network printers normally.

Received this response from Dell yesterday....

AirPrint on iOS8 is does not currently work correctly with our 1xxx series monochrome printers. AirPrint will detect these printers, but cannot print to them. This will be resolved in a future firmware update. The impacted printers are:

  • B1163
  • B1165
  • B1260
  • B1265

Customers can use the Mobile Print App for Dell, which is available through iTunes, as a workaround until the firmware updates are available.

You can keep an eye on our support at support.dell.com and viewing the your specific model. Under firmware keep an eye on the release dates. You can also sigh up for automated alerts when new releases come out, you will find this on the landing page of each model.

I had no trouble printing to 2 different network printers from my 5S, my 4S and my iPad 2, all on 8.1. I suggest some basic troubleshooting, starting with rebooting your router, your iOS device and your printer.

Looks like the 8.1 update did not address the Airprint issues which began in 8.0 and persisted in 8.01 and 8.02. The 8.1 Release Notes make no mention of printing issues or anything to do with airprint. The firmware update from Samsung in October after the 8.0 release solved my ipad and iphone AirPrint issues with my Samsung AirPrint printer but I will not be updating iOS again until I know that no new firmware will be required and that Apple has worked with Samsung, Dell, etc. to identify and correctly program new iOS updates to mesh with the various printers out there. It's strange to me that Apple either doesn't know about these AirPrint issues, doesn't care, can't change the software and/or believes that all such issues are manufacturer responsibilities. There are a lot of printers out there hanging in the Aor so to speak.

Truth be told, I was advised by Apple specialist via Customer Service that the engineers are quite aware of this problem and is "investigating into it" but that doesn't necessarily mean they will get to it soon as it is most likely not their priority but the "Touch ID", "Touch Pay" and "Camera Roll" is. What a joke. I have read somewhere on this board that Dell is supposedly working to update their firmware and no target date given as to when. From my POV neither Apple or Dell is stepping up to the plate and taking ownership of this inconvenience. 😠

Yes iOS 8.1 was released,. However I am experiencing same airprinting problems. From non of my devices. I am using 2 iPads,1 phone 5s,1 iPhone 5c, 1 iPod touch and non of them respond to air printing or recognizing my canon pixma which use to work fabulous Before the updates. At this point my phrase of the day is "have my apples gotten rotten" super frustrated as I have purchase several doc app and now I am unable to print.

Repeating what I said a few messages above in this thread:

I solved my AirPrint iOS8 Compatibility issue on my Samsung SL-C460W Multifunction Colour Laser Printer. There is a firmware update available on the Samsung site - just search for the printer and you'll see available downloads. The firmware upgrade is, however crazily, available only as a Windows (.exe) file. I was waiting for a Mac version, but got impatient and decided to try the .exe file. I borrowed a Windows PC and downloaded the firmware upgrade and updated my printer wirelessly from the Windows machine. Voila! AirPrint works!
