LTE is not working on iPhone 6 plus

i just got the iPhone 6 plus and it seems like it's not connecting to LTE. I only see 4G icon showing even though my daughter's iPhone 5 is displaying LTE on her phone. Is this a carrier issue or the iPhone?

Ahhhh, glad to see its not just me going crazy! I noticed this issue after pulling away from ATT with my new iphone 6. Was glad to get on this new device with what apple says, Improved LTE. Which I instantly new would translate into, more trouble with LTE. As soon as my phone jumped off wifi as leaving the store in a Strong LTE service area, my phone said 4G. I thought it was just a setting, SO I did all the typical resets and all that, GREAT! LTE came back for 30 seconds, then back to 4G. While I do get LTE at times it seems to drop it often. My wifes iPhone 5 is holding LTE fine, AND the ping times are half of what mine are. I have not been to ATT yet but hope to soon. I will see if this fixes the problem. Every time I run out and get a new iPhone model there is some major problem I get stuck with.

P.S. two more iphone 6 from friends and family are having the same problem. Except one of them will not hold LTE signal at all, sitting next to the ipad mini holding LTE strong.

This is probably not a carrier issue. It's an Apple issue. Since Apple does not let its customers (nor it's lower level tech support people) know of known bugs in its software or hardware, it's up to users to get frustrated of find out for themselves. There are a multitude of problems with iOS 8, and 8.0.2. Particularly with the iPhone 6. The LTE/4G issue is but one of them. I have sent this report to Apple's bug reporting site (as should you all), but don't expect a reply. I can restart the phone and LTE comes back. I can reset network settings and LTE comes back. I can restore as a new iPhone and LTE comes back (but other problems arise). But sooner or later, LTE goes away and 4G comes back. With it, the iPhone 6 begins to heat up as it tries to fine the LTE connection. And of course battery life drops dramatically as well. I have called Apple tech support and now they can actually pull up diagnostics on the iPhone. For mine, the battery and hardware tested fine, but there was errors appearing in the software and operating system. While these errors were not specific, it does indicate buggy operating system. With the fiasco of iOS 8.0.1 which made it all of about an hour before being pulled for killing cellular service altogether, it makes sense that in the rush to get something out, errors were still made with the LTE/4G side of things. I hope that Apple can get it right with 8.1 and that it comes out fairly soon.

After two days on the phone with Verizon (Vzw) tier 2 support and Apple
support I was able to get an answer, and get this fixed. There are some known
issues with the Vzw iPhones staying in extended mode - so check these first!
This is a very important issue to get fixed because until you do you are stuck
on other cell operators towers and not Vzw and you will not get high definition
calling!

1) IMPORTANT- If you are using a Vzw Network
Extender
in your home or office, since update of iOS 8.1 you
will always see extended mode on your phone, no matter what, for now. (4g HD
calling not yet available through Vpn tunnel)

2) 8.1 apple update defaulted all the iPhone cellular mode LTE setting to data
only
. to fix, go to settings> Cellular > Enable
LTE > Select
Voice & Data. a check mark
should appear within 30 seconds and Verizon will reappear on iPhone. If the
check mark appears you are now back on Vzw cell network and have High Def
calling. If not - complete a "hard reset on the iPhone" Do this
by holding down your power button and home button until you see the apple logo
on the screen, This actually disconnects the batter on the phone and forces the
sim card to reach out to the towers and reinitialize settings.

If this does not work, toggle on and off Airplane Mode

If that does not work; go to settings> General> Reset> Reset
Network Settings

Now if after all that your check mark does not appear or you get a pop box
on the phone that says "call Vzw to enable LTE calls" then here is
the solution:

Call Vzw, have them add the following 3 codes on your account:

A) Advanced Calling 1.0 - Vzw Feature Code 81143

B) High Def Voice - Vzw Feature Code 81158

C) High Def Access - Vzw Feature Code 81186

If you give the Vzw rep the three feature codes it will make your life
easier because this is a very new issue!

Now you can hard reset and select LTE Voice and Data and get back on the Vzw
Network

2 days and 4 hours on the phone with both companies solved this issue, I am
not that smart, just pushy to get my new HD calling that I bought the dam
iPhone 6 for! Cheers! gene

Note: When doing all this you must be in good range of a Vzw cell tower and
have at least two bars of signal on your phone, if not go outside.

I got a new iPhone 6 Plus in December and had problems with LTE from the beginning. Could only use the internet via WIFI most of the time. After getting a new SIM card, I still had the same problem. Calls to Verizon and Apple help desk did no good. I made an appointment at my local Genius Bar and while they could not diagnose the problem either, they put me in touch with tier 2 help at Verizon. After almost a month of daily frustration, we figured out the problem was that my Verizon data Usage Controls were set too low. It must have been on a default setting to limit my data usage to 1 GB and then stop all data usage once the 1 GB data limit was reached. I did not even know this control existed. In case it happens to someone else who is as clueless as I was, check your Verizon Usage Controls by clicking on the "Usage Limits" tab.
