Iphone 6 and Ford Sync Bluetooth Does Not Work

Brand new iPhone 6 paired with My Ford Sync in a 2014 Escape.

Bad news, the bluetooth phone features simply do not work. You can initiate a call form the Sync and the phone will dial and connect, but 5 seconds into the call the bluetooth disconnects the phone audio and returns you to your radio or whatever source you were listening to.

The call appears to remain active on the iPhone but you can't access it.

Sure hope Apple or Microsoft/Ford step up to fix this soon it is a real show stopper.

Nothing like in the field beta testing.

Deleting phone from sync system, deleting sync from phone, reset network settings on phone, then re-paired phone to sync system. Works perfectly on both our 2014 F150 and 2014 Fusion. Have made multiple phone calls without issue. My wife's 5s and my 6 works without issue now, we never had an issue running iOS 8 beta, not sure what messed up the connectivity but it's a pretty simple fix. I have even restarted my phone multiple times and it's still connecting perfectly.

After 2 weeks of trying all the suggestions here, finally got my iphone 6 to connect correctly with my Ford 2009 Escape. I still had a little issue even after deleting my other iphone from icloud, but in MFT, I didn't make this iphone my "favorite", had to go back to my iphone6 & do the "forget this device", & then repair phone & Sync. After that, voila! I am making calls without them dropping & the sound quality is good.

Since my last post I have followed all of the steps that others have tried with some success.

To recap:

- I have installed latest SYNC software (3.6.2)

- I have removed my phone device from SYNC and performed a Master Reset of SYNC

- I have removed my old iPhone from iCloud account

- I have installed latest iOS 8.0.2

The little success is that I was able to pair my iPhone6 with SYNC and I can listen to Bluetooth music which is a big deal since I have a road trip coming up.

I still, however, can NOT use SYNC for handsfree calling. When I ask SYNC to place a call, or use my iPhone to make a call the phone will connect however I can not hear what people are saying and then can not hear me. If I use the iPhone and switch the audio source from SYNC to iPhone or Speaker then I can at least talk on the phone but obviously this is not how the SYNC system is supposed to work.

Any additional ideas would be appreciated.

I need to clarify a few things since I am not fully able to get my 2009 Ford Escape's "Sync" system to answer calls made to my Iphone 6 Plus. When people here say there is a new Ford Sync firmware update, does it apply to ALL Ford Sync vehicles ? Pervious some of the updates did not apply to certain cars. When people in this thread use the term "MFT" , what does that mean.? What does a "master reset" of Sync actually do ?

I used Sync with my Iphone 4 and Iphone 5 and was able to to make and receive calls hands free, plus use audio services via bluetooth . With the Iphone 6, I can make calls hands free and use audio streaming services via bluetooth, I just can't answer calls. The answer phone button on the steering wheel does nothing when the phone is ringing.

After two weeks of working fantastically, something went wrong.

Nothing was added or changed. Noticed that the Health app dashboards were all disappeared. Who knows why? Just gone. All of the sudden they are back today and guess what, the phone quite connecting with Sync. Just hangs up after a few seconds. Right back to the way it was on Sep 24th.

Guess it's time to bring out the 3GS and put a sim in it. At least it was fully functional with the system. Canceling my order for the iPhone 6 Plus, don't need two paperweights. Missed the 15 day window on the 6, otherwise would be returning it as well.

I spend 4 hours a day in the car, depend on a phone that works properly. Bluetooth connectivity is the simplest of tasks, and Apple screwed that up.

Hey Folks,

Just want to chime in here because this is a huge issue that neither Ford nor Apple are addressing.

Last week I drove off the lot in a brand new 2014 Focus Titanium hatch. Same problem everyone is having here. Bluetooth audio works great, however when someone calls me while the phone is connected, the phone simply rings and MyFord Touch doesn't recognize the call. If I place a call, it will ring once or twice over the car speakers and then promptly disconnect. I'm using a 64gb iPhone 6 on AT&T with iOS 8.0.2

I brought it by the dealership here in Seattle and the service department was stumped. They paired an Android and it worked just fine which confirms this problem is on Apple's end. Their advice was wait for Apple to release a software update.

I've emailed several dealers to try to raise awareness to this issue, but from what I've heard back there have been no advisory bulletins released by Ford.

Truly a bummer, in Washington State (and many states) hands free is required. Please fix this Apple!!!

Well that is discouraging news as I just got mine to work the other day. Everyone having issues needs to bombard Apple in their Bug Report system so this gets resolved. I am also past my return date for the iphone 6 so basically stuck. Maybe it's time to switch to an Android phone as they seem to have far less issues. It's ironic that some are connecting Android phones without any issue while those of us with the Apple phones are wasting too much time getting a simple bluetooth action to work properly.

To the person asking, I use MFT(MyFordTouch) meaning the same as the Sync system--sorry for the confusion.

You really need to check the name of your iphone before syncing it, too, so they match up. Once put into my Sync system, I don't make it my "Favorite" phone either. I just kept playing around with it using the suggestions here until it worked. You really do need to back it up to iTunes, then either Erase all the Settings on your phone and/or use the Reset Network Settings. Again, be sure your iphone name is the same as what backed up on iTunes....

I just hope mine doesn't stop working after 2 weeks.

Android has a whole other set of issues. Had one for a day, was so frustrated with getting it setup, it went back.

Noticed today that I am having all sorts of bluetooth issues, besides Sync. Heart rate monitor, Beat's Pill, keep looking connections. These had been working fine, while Sync did. Now intermittent or just loose connection after a few minutes.

Now using an old iPhone 5 in car for Sync. Just a clean system, nothing added. Seems to be working.

I sure hope Apple monitors these forums.

Just called Applecare to discuss this issue. Spent 30 mins on the phone describing the issue in great detail only to have the rep tell me that, "Since the phone works on bluetooth with other devices, it is not an Apple issue. I should call Ford."

What a ******** answer. My iPhone 5 worked perfectly with the very same vehicle and along comes iOS 8 and all of a sudden it is a Ford issue? Plus I have used other phones with this vehicle with NO ISSUES whatsoever.

C'mon Apple you're better than that. Step up and admit this is broken, troubleshoot it and get it fixed.

Go out to MacRumors.com. They are reporting iOS8.1 does address Bluetooth Connectivity issues. It's supposed to be out this month. But Apple isn't going to publicly say there's a problem or they are working on a solution. Just know they are well aware and a solution is on its way. Just don't ask them rush it. The last thing anyone needs is a rushed iOS update that could cause other issues.
