I did this, but unfortunately my Messages app still refers to my old Apple ID, which is not even an ID anymore. No idea what the password would be which makes it impossible to add new email addresses for contact. How do you get the Messages app to recognize and offer the correct ID that is now active on my iPhone? Hope this makes sense so somebody can help me.....

1.) Reset the phone
2.) All installed apps must be uninstalled and then reinstalled.
3.) Very tedious and not user friendly.
I went through these steps and still have the same problem:
when I want to update apps, the log-in shows my old Apple ID... ???
Did you download/purchase these apps using your old ID - before you changed it to the new one? If you did, follow the instructions in my previous post.
