iOS8 Keyboard shortcuts are not syncing between devices

I'm not sure that you have the shortcuts still listed or not? If they are not listed then you do not have the same problem I do. Mine are always listed but simply don't work until the fix I already posted. If you do have them and my fix doesn't work then we are probably dealing with a more "subtle" syncing issue and there are several different problems here.

I was really hopeful when I read your solution because it made so much sense. But it didn't work for me. Thanks for sharing though.

Switched my user name to something more intelligible. Anyway, since my solution works 100% of the time, it is likely that my problem is a syncing problem and that other problems listed may or not be a syncing issue or one that can be solved with the method I described. Of course, we have not exhausted our description of the actual hardware we are using and what other programs that may or may not interact positively or negatively. Obviously Apple will have to address this. Sorry that yours isn't working.

one device might "call" the other to verify iCloud keychain access if that was selected to be turned on while setting up the newly installed iOS 8. However, for me this was clearly explained during setup and I had to choose that method of verifying my Apple ID/iCloud ID, so it shouldn't have been something unexpected. Here's a solution:

May take a few minutes depending on how mamy shortcuts you have, but if you click on each, then hit SAVE on each one, it will activate them. I had about 50 and it only took me a minute.

It did not keep the shortcuts activated after restarting my Ipad. However, your solution of simply clicking on an existing shortcut and saving is more elegant than mine (adding a new shortcut and then deleting it.). Moreover, both methods which at least work after powering up suggest there is some problem with "activating" through the cloud. I did not test your method between devices such as entering a new shortcut on the ipad and then seeing if it shows up on my iPhone.

I can solve this by going Prefs Keyboard Shortcut, and then highlight ONE of my shortcuts, hit SAVE, and they all work. Unless I restart iPad, then I have to start l over again....

i think this is a major issue because its happened to almost everyone i know upgrading to iOS 8...

when i got iOS 7 on my iPod touch my shortcuts broke but an update fixed it 🙂

the more people who raise the issue the quicker it'll be solved for iOS 8 😀, good luck!!!

True. Mine stopped working after I restarted. Magically, today, they have begun working again. I did nothing - no update, no restart, nothing...I'll just hope they stay working now 🙂

have only tried it for 10min now but iOS 8.1 seems to have fixed it 🙂

Agreed. Glad to have my shortcuts back!

I’ve upgraded to iOS 8.1, OS X Yosemite, and iCloud Drive. I backed up to iTunes and iCloud. Shortcuts are still not synchronizing reliably between platforms. When it does sync, it’s only between the iPad and iMac.

My iPhone 6 was setup as new when I bought it, and I reset my iPad Air as new at the same time.
