iphone 6 camera not working

I just got the iphone 6 today and my camera's are not working. All I see is a black screen and I can not take a picture. Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

iPhone 6, iOS 8

Hey Kiresh, I had the same problem with my iPhone 6 as well. It stopped working about a month ago and yesterday just started working out of nowhere. I think you just have to wait a while because I tried everything possible even as far as contacting apple support which was a 2 hr process but it still didn’t work. If you don’t want to wait that long you can only go to the apple store and get it fixed because there’s no other way that I can think of to fix it that I haven’t already tried.

Hey everyone having this issue in 2017! I had this happen to me a couple of years ago and read a lot of discussion boards on it until I finally had to go into Apple. I talked to support on the phone for hours and they could never resolve the issue. When I went into Apple I told the tech guy that everything I read says I will be walking out with a new phone, he did everything he could but eventually had to give me a new phone entirely. Mine was still under warranty so it didn't cost me anything.

Yesterday i wasn't experiencing the same problem and i went and got it repaired. After being repaired the back camera came to life, but the front camera was unresponsive, the technician said it could be a circuit board problem, if you also have problems with the phone staying on( phone switches off when plugged it the apple sign comes on for a few seconds switches off then comes back on) this is a result of the camera issues

Just a little update. After messing with my camera's for awhile, they now sometimes come on, sometimes don't, and sometimes come on with a bunch of pink lines through them. Always within a few min the camera app crashes and goes black. Im hoping this is an ios 8 software problem that can be resolved with an update seeing as the nearest apple store is over an hr and a half away from here. Not to mention I have put a screen protector on my phone which is not reusable.

Ok, I had the issue black screen preview but could still take a picture.

Just got off Apple support chat here's what we did:

Try to initiate Facetime call, front camera is working, hit the camera flip and sure enough, rear camera was working.

That told her it was a software issue.

Solution:

Force quit all apps, power off phone. Wait 10 seconds and reboot phone. Camera preview is now working again.

Hope that helps others!

After spending quite awhile talking to apple iphone support today they had me try a couple things.: resetting the phone holding the power and home button at the same time for a few seconds, and restoring the phone as a new phone via itunes. They then determined my phone has a hardware problem and are shipping me a new phone free of charge. However, they refuse to reimburse me for my screen protector since I did not buy it from apple. Seems to me that most similar issues are most likely hardware problems. The number for iphone support is (800) 694-7466 if any of you need it.

I am having the same problem with my iPhone 6 Plus 128gb phone. The camera and everything has been working great. Then, all of the sudden, the camera just came up black. I have rebooted the phone, powered down for 10min+ and then powered back on. I then restored my phone via iTunes (after I backed up of course) and then completed the restore.

I then restored the backup and brought the phone back up. Still the same black screen on the camera.

I then reset the content and all of the settings completely and this time I DID NOT restore from the backup. Still, the same problem. Nothing I am doing seems to be working. Looks like I'll be heading to the Apple Store tomorrow or contact Apple support. This is a real bummer. One of the main reasons I purchased the iPhone 6 Plus was because of it's camera. 😟

Hi, I have the same issue after updating to iOS 8.1.3 and restoring from iCloud.

Tried such steps from Apple support, maybe this will be useful for somebody:

1. Make sure your iTunes is updated to the latest version. If it is not, please download and install iTunes from here: www.itunes.com. To find the version of iTunes you are running:

-On a PC please drop down the Help menu at the top of iTunes and choose: About iTunes.

-On a Mac please drop down the iTunes menu and choose: About iTunes

Text will start scrolling. At the beginning of that text will be the version number. The current version is 12, however 10.7 will work. The minimum version required for iOS 8 is 10.7. Don't forget, if you are using iTunes 12 on a Windows system, to be able to follow this guide affectively, please do the following: in iTunes choose View>Show Sidebar.

2. Transfer Purchases - Use article: iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848

3. Import Photos - Use article: iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083

4. Back Up - Use article: iOS: How to Back Up: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766

5. Turn off Find My Device from Settings > iCloud.

6. Restore your OS - See article titled iTunes: Restoring iOS Software:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

7. Stop here and test your device before adding your content back on. Note: You will have to go through the device 'Setup Assistant' first. If the device still is not reacting as it should then please contact us back and let us know.

8. Restore your content - See section titled "How to restore from backup" in article iOS: How to Back up: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766

9. Sync your device as normal. This will bring back all of your applications, music and the photos you choose. For more information about syncing, please see article iOS: How to Transfer or Sync Content to your Computer (and from your computer) :http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1296

That didn't help much and I have those intermittent camera app failures. I was recommended to get help in Apple store, but don't have an opportunity to do this due to staying in country without Apple stores at the moment.

As others, I didn't have such issue before firmware update and restore, so I still assume that this is a software fault. Will wait for the next update and if that will not help will try to change my device in some Apple store...
