Sep 19, 2014 8:29 PM in response to dkindle1by pogster,★HelpfulI would recommend doing a reset before doing a restore. Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

Sep 20, 2014 1:28 AM in response to dkindle1by dkindle1,Also, after attempting to do a factory reset on the iPhone, iTunes unexpectedly crashes and will not reopen as long as the phone is connected. So my phone is completely bricked. Will have to take into the Apple store and see what they can do.

Sep 20, 2014 8:25 PM in response to dkindle1by dkindle1,I found that I did not have to take the phone in. After updating iTunes to version 12.0, I was able to fully perform the factory reset. This doesn't explain what caused the passcode to stop working. I know I did not change it. The only thing I can think of is a possible icloud issue or hardware glitch.

Nov 27, 2014 12:50 PM in response to dkindle1by the_rmc,★HelpfulI hit this exact issue today. I was attempting to install the 8.1 update released today (11/27) - it was requesting my "passcode". I entered the passcode several times, but upon the phone becoming locked. I was unable to unlock via touch or the Passcode. The phone is now completely locked (60 minute wait) - and it will not accept any passcode I provide, even though I am 100% sure of the passcode. I will likely have to do a factory reset as well, it'd be great to know what is causing this.

Nov 27, 2014 12:56 PM in response to the_rmcby TJBUSMC1973,The passcode is stored locally on the device. If the passcode you're entering is rejected, then it's not the right passcode.

Dec 10, 2014 8:43 PM in response to TJBUSMC1973by MARV69,Same thing just happened to me today, doesn't look like it is a random occurrence if it is starting to happen to multiple people. Apple, time to start figuring out what is going on!

Dec 13, 2014 4:02 PM in response to dkindle1by bunbun124,I just had the same problem.... I had to go home, hook it up to my MBP and as soon as I did that and entered my password in, it worked... This is going to be frustrating if they don't release a fix for this. I can't carry my laptop around with me everywhere i go.

Dec 13, 2014 4:03 PM in response to bunbun124by bunbun124,Please note, you have to have at least synched iTunes in the past for this to work apparently. Don't follow the instructions of recovery, there is no need, as soon as iTunes loads up and you have your phone connected, it should unlock when you enter your password in.

I'm not sure you understand what 'random' actually means.

Dec 26, 2014 2:02 AM in response to dkindle1by markkcurtis,MMe too today and I havenet updated to 8.1.2
turned on my phone and bam, won't accept my passcode which I've not changed recently.
it's rendered my phone useless and at the worse time of year, not because of Christmas but because my dad has just passed and everyone needs to contact me for arrangements. I'm bloody livid with Apple.

Dec 26, 2014 4:17 PM in response to markkcurtisby Chase1415,★HelpfulMine stopped working today as well, I was doubting my own memory, but I'm glad I'm not the only one. So now I'm trying to update it through ITunes, if that doesn't work, I might try resetting it then use a backup or take it to the Apple Store...
