IOS 8 landscape bug

The fix is to open Safari or Messages hold down the power button until the slide to power off comes up. Release the power button then hold down the home button until the application force quits. What is happening is the iPhone is having a tough time coming out of sleep to wake; consequently the software stack in charge of the gyroscope is not responding as it should

Not being catty, but that's a workaround (which is appreciated) but apple needs to fix this.

I'm having the same issue on my 6+ 64gb.

I've noticed it often happens when the phone was locked but here's the weird thing. The phone isn't just stuck in the current screen orientation, it seems only the home screen is. If the home screen is stuck in upside down portrait (probably from being upside down in my pocket) but I launch an app, holding the phone right side up, the app opens right side up, but if I hit the home button, the home screen is still stuck upside down.

As others have pointed out, if I leave the phone alone and don't do anything, it eventually fixes itself.

There seem to be a lot of bugs like this in iOS8... Does not feel polished at all. That's a shame.

I, too, have a 5s with iOS8 installed. I purchased it used and have had it for one week so I'm not sure if its rotation issue was pre-existing or if iOS8 is the cause. Besides not rotating the screen reliably, it is inverting photos as I take them! Also, when I open the iBooks app, all of the book thumbnails are upsidedown! I'm NOT having the same issue with my iPad 4 which also has iOS8 installed. I have a Genius Bar appointment tomorrow. Hopefully, they will determine if the issue is hardware-related or if it is iOS 8.

Having the same issue. Landscape is extremely glitchy on my iPhone 6, frequently getting stuck. I also cannot copy/paste text or use backspace in landscape mode (like while filling out this form, for example). I have left feedback on this. Come on, Apple.

I am running iOS 8.2.

UPDATE: I no longer have screen rotation issues—or inverted content issues—after the following recommendations from the Genius Bar:

1) reset my phone to its factory settings (erased all settings and content. Issue persisted until I 2) restored from a backup afterwards.

Same problem here. iPhone 6 does not rotate untill "warmed up" for several minutes. Also sometimes images are upside down.

this problem caused of IOS 8 try to upgrade to IOS 8.0.2 and then try again to rotate the screen maybe will fix issue,

How do you calibrate the battery.

You are not catty. I am tired of having to spend hours on work arounds when I just purchased a new product. Why should I have to fix something that I bought? It seems like I have to disable half of the features that I bought the phone for on the first place just so it will have the basics. Thinking about switching to Android.

If it did not resolve this issue on your device, why do you believe that your results are the same as what other people will encounter?

In virtually all scenarios, identical symptoms can be caused by multiple root causes, so telling someone not to try the basic of troubleshooting is disingenuous.

FYI, I upgraded to iOS 8.0.2 and the problem is resolved for me on my 6+. Hasn't happened a single time since upgrading.

I've been experiencing this bug since I upgraded my 5s to iOS 8.0.2. It worked fine on iOS 8.0.

It's very annoying, especially when it takes photos in the wrong orientation.

I have an iphone 5s and I've been facing this bug ever since I upgraded to iOS 8. I was hoping that iOS8.0.2 would fix it but it did not. I've spend a lot of time with apple support (on chat) trying to solve this issue but all they suggest to me is to erase all my setting, get rid of my case, peel off my screen protector or do a complete restore.

****, why don't they just own up and say that apple scr***d it this time and half-bricked our phones and stop wasting our time. Just give us an SLA for the bug fix.

This is my last #@**%$# iphone if apple does not fix this issue.
