IOS 8 landscape bug

Once again you are using phrases that I did not post. Where did I say that anyone was "imagining" this issue?

Did you completely restore your phone without the backup and did this issue continue? If this happened, you should take your phone to the Apple Store for a replacement under warranty. This has always been the standard way to troubleshoot an issue regarding iOS.

Having the same issue on my 5S. Sometimes corrects itself, but no rhyme or reason...just a matter of time and not using the phone or coming back to it, but very frustrating.

Spoke too soon...looked like it was fine, switched from photo to video and it went to landscape mode. Switched back to photo...landscape mode. Son of a...

add me to this list. my co-worker next to me has the same issue as well.

Can't wait until my contract is over with Verizon so I can go back to a 25 monthly plan with my using my tried and true 3gs ... 4s wifi went out within a year, and now this stupid landscape bug since updating to 8.0.2. Apple is slacking since Steve left, God rest his soul.

I'm having the same issue, yet another iOS 8 bug. Especially annoying in Safari. (iPhone 6 - iOS 8.0.2)

On top of this one, from time to time I also have the "upside down photo" bug when the phone is locked.

Same issue here! I have iPhone 5S. Randomly turns videos and pics shot in landscape sideways for portrait mode. Frustrating...

Hi I have the opposite problem…. My iPhone 5S, with iOS 8.02
is ALWAYS rotating in to landscape mode automatically (also in Safari browser).

I believe this started after I had the iPhone in the car for
2 hours connected to recharge but he was in the middle armrest slightly
inclined (+/- 20°).

Now when I open e-mail, the screen turns to landscape
(screen turns clockwise 90°….) very annoying and I can’t seem to get this
fixed.

Only work around is: lock the portrait orientation …. Anybody any clue or similar experience?

Well, you can try to reset it (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the "Slide to Unlock" screen redisplays, see if the issues has resolved itself.

Hi Thanks, tried this before... but does not resolve the issue... 😟

strange thig is alos when opening compass and going to second screen, it displays 1° whne laying on a table; before it even was 21°.... and I cannot see the 2 circles you normally see when calibrating....

Not sure I'm understanding. The second screen is a level, and should display 1º if the table is at a very slight angle. If it is perfectly flat, it should display 0º and should be green. Can you explain what you mean by 21º?

I have the impression it gives an angle (compass believes it is not flat....); now same table, same location -8°; if I tilt it it gets to 0° and green (but then my iPhone is inclined). Also turrning horizontally I can get to 0° (looks like the N-S axis)

PS: with the horizontal moving, the screen is not fully green; the top stays white...for +/- 1cm (white band of +/- 1 cm)

Well, it definitely sounds like it is out of kilter. Since it thinks it is flat when it is at an angle, then I'm guessing that is why it is going to landscape mode - it thinks you have it turned enough to want to go into that mode.

You can try doing a restore to Factory Settings, and then restore it to a backup (do an iTunes or iCloud backup before restoring):

Or, since it is an easily reproducible problem, you can take it to the Apple Store. It should be obvious to anyone seeing your demo of the 0º at an angle issue that there is something that needs some sort of alignment....

I Disagree they always have bugs, in fact they never have bugs like this it's so in-apple like. I'm so ticked off because I can't use my beautiful new phone in landscape mode. Can't even begin to explain.

home screen will not run in landscape if you are using "zoomed" icon setting. Try changing to "standard"...
