Anyone one else notice this? When on silent mode my phone will randomly vibrate.

This happens 3-5 times today already.

Any suggestions or does apple need to come up with a bug fix?

Thanks,

My iPhone 6 is 3 days old. I began to notice a Bi-tone (specifically the "input" notification sound) occurring randomly with no notification of any kind on the screen. Apple said to do a total reset and restore from backup and see what happens. If it reoccurs, I'm supposed to call them back. I noticed that in transitioning from my iPhone 5 to the 6, that all of my mail notification sounds were changed from "bamboo" to "input" notification tone. I've changed them all to another totally different notification tone and plan to wait and see what I randomly hear next.

@polostefano:

THAT must be it, exactly -- the filtered email triggering an alert. I've been struggling with this problem ever since iOS 8 came out. I turned off all the other notifications except Messages and Gmail and it was still doing it.

How irritating. I wonder whether it's a Gmail/Google bug or an iOS 8/Apple bug.

I get it too, only I get the 'staccato' vibration as my phone is on silent most of the time. As far as I can see, this vibrations pattern is only active for text messages. And for me it seems to only happen at night when my phone is in flight mode, which seems to rule out the rogue email behavior as I wouldn't get an email 5 hours after enabling flight mode

I keep getting this too and that's how I ended up in this forum, my iPhone 6 (latest iOS) vibrates from time to time for no apparent reason, no notification, no emails, no new message, nothing at all. I verified all the settings I can adjust and it's still doing it. It's annoying, since I always have my phone on silent mode and every time I feel it's vibrating I have to pull it out of my pocket to check for nothing. I tried to investigate why and one time I noticed that it's happening while my phone is on silent mode a dialog box will appear on the screen every now and then to remind me that my phone is on silent mode and it vibrates every time it's doing so (same as switching it to silent mode with the side button).

I believe this a software flaw that Apple should fix.

Having the same problem with my iPhone 6. Since updating to OS 8.1, my iPhone randomly, occasionally, will ring once (the standard old telephone ring) and there is no indication in my call list, messages, alerts, notifications, or ANYTHING that a call or alert of any kind has come in. It only happens on my iPhone -- not the iPad, and both have idential sound and alert settings. Have checked and double-checked multiple times, and NONE of my sounds, notifications, alerts, or anything else use that particular ringtone as a choice (because I consciously had changed from it a few months ago when I realized it's often used on the radio in radio dramas, or in news rooms, etc. and I'd found myself grabbing my iPhone when it was only on the radio). There seems to be zero reason for these rings to occur, and am about to make an appointment at the "Genius Bar" -- which I anticipate would be a waste of time.

My IPHONE 5 ios 8.1.3 had the same problem. I kept hearing the xylophone ring tone that I had attached to only one of the people in my contact list. So I changed the ring tone of that person and have not had the problem since. Good luck to all. Hope this helps.

P.S. Dandr69 The Vrruumm! sound is in ringtones under classic tones called Motorcycle. 😉

I am getting the same, I was sitting watching TV earlier, and the phone started making buzzing alert tones, as I keep mines on silent most of the time. Done it about 7 times, it stopped when I picked it up. Was ok after that, anyway encase it was a bug or something I switched it off and on, and then tonight about 5 hours later, it gave me another couple of text alerts, same buzzing noise. No texts, nothing.

There is defiantly something going on, I thought it was my handset, but after reading this this is not on. You just don't know what's up.

Who knows?
