wifi issues with iphone 6

Hi All,

Is anyone facing the issues with the wifi on iphone 6? I was connected to wi-fi but after I restarted the router by powering off/on, I wasn't able to connect to the wifi until I restarted my phone. Also even after toggling the wifi on/off on my phone I couldn't see any wifi signals where as I am supposed to see atleast 10 signals. Can someone please tell the steps to resolve this issue? Is this an hardware or an software issue on the phone?

Thanks - I'll have to double check the router specs at home. I tried to remember it from the last time I saw it (Sunday before Apple called). I could have sworn my husband said he got it last year or so. (Should pay more attention to the computer things he said he replaced at home but I guess I never cared as long as everything worked). Apple had me do just that on Sunday - reset the network Settings.

Ugh! That's the thing I reset thr other day when Apple Support asked me to reset the router (I did tell him I didn't know anything about computers but he relied on me to identify a router). Ok so maybe this is it: Netgear N900 WNDR4500

Yes, that's your wireless router, and it's a good one. Start by power-cycling it to reset it. If you continue to have problems get its manual and look up how to separate it into 2 networks, one at 2.6 GHz and one at 5 GHz. To do this you will need to log in to its control center using a web browser, then change the network name of the 5 GHz mode. It should be an easy process. Once you've changed it go to your devices and change them to forget the original network name and then connect to the new network name. This should eliminate network interference issues.

Several times per day my iPhone and all our other iOS devices and the Lenovo laptop were not able to connect to our wifi... I thought it was the wireless router until I connected a pc to the same wifi... and it holds its connection all day/night... switching security from WPA2 to WPA2 MIXED resolved the issue for me... for now... as soon as I switched security protocols and saved... the iPhone immediately 'found' and connected to the network...

kind of a weird, disturbing, annoying bug... but happy if this resolves the issue.

Powered the actual router off, then on, reset network setting. Problem still persists. My husband now thinks the firmware of the router needs to be updated since it can identify and see every device but mine (It sees something unknown that it just marks as "s" while every other device has a name. He said (BSID???) is not recognized by the router, that my phone puts out. (The router has not been updated since we had it). He thinks it drops only my phone (dumps it) on purpose. So he will try to update this on the weekend.

So there was no update to the firmware to our router; however, logging in, we found out that the network I've been trying to connect to was only a 2.4 Ghz network. We have a 5ghz network but since I never connected to it and never entered a password it never sent me to it (in fact it was the first network my phone would see and I thought it was a neighbor's network). So my husband gave me the password to this 5ghz network. I hope it solves the problem (at the very least it seems so much faster and I'm the one and only device on it).

I'm considering my problem solved. My iPhone 6s Plus has not dropped in days. It was solved by merely making sure my iphone 6s plus was on a 5ghz network. (unclear if the phone or the router was disconnecting the phone from the 2.4ghz network though) I learned something new: if you update one piece of hardware by more than one generation, check to see that the peripherals can support the upgrade.

WIfi issues are real. I just got a replacement phone yesterday. As I sat at the Genius bar, the associate watched my wifi go in and out on its own. Happens at home, school, hospital, and anywhere else there is wifi I can connect to. Apple gave me a free replacement. When I got home a few hours later, this brand new replacement phone was doing the same thing. I immediately contacted Apple, who run diagnostics and told me there was an issue with Settings, but not one that I could fix or one that I could even control. So now I have to go back to the Apple store for yet another phone.

I was told initially that my (first) phone likely had hardware issues. The associate at the Genius Bar said pit was probably software-related. After I got the replacement and had the same problems, I spoke with a Senior Advisor who said software-related. (On another note, the guy that was waiting to be helped after me said he was having the same issue.)

I will say that everyone I have dealt with his been very nice. However, the constant posts to the generic "wifi fix" I see on this forum is insulting. That answer has a rating of 20% helpful, and that's because it doesn't work. There is an issue with iOS 9. There are far too many people experiencing the exact same problem. I've seen posts suggesting a new router might be in order. For a select few, this may be the case. I even bought a new router, to no avail. It was just a waste of money.

My daughter has a 6s just like mine, except she is still on iOS 8, as is my iPad, and we have no issues with those two devices, nor my husband's Android, or our computers.

This is extremely frustrating. It would be great if Apple would at least admit that there is a problem, be it hardware and/or software related, and then give us a solution. At least let us know you're aware of the problem and are working on it. As it stands right now, it's like all of us with these problems are on our own. There's only so much Apple support can do aside from give out free replacements and hope that it works properly.

I switched to iphone because I like how smoothly my iPad runs. No "force close" issues to deal with as on Android, but looking back, I'd rather have the occasional "force close" than constant wifi issues.

I am praying my problem will be resolved next week, but I'm almost at the point that I don't believe there even is a fix. Maybe the third time will be the charm. Fingers crossed.
