I read the article well I think. And more likely understood what it's about.

1. As I wrote before - it was only one article I found where the real reason (not emotions) of smaller RAM compare to Android was described.

2. But the problem with short life cycle of Apple (and not only) products is actual too. I gave an examples about iPad 1 and iPhone 4s. And it was exactly small RAM issue.

What do you mean "short life cycle"? I am still using my iPad 1 and my iPhone 4 (not 4s, mind you, but iPhone 4). Both do everything they were sold to me to do. They continue to perform at the same level they did when I purchased them. So, again, not sure what you mean by short life cycle?

And, BTW, in the world of technology, assume the turnover for "new and better that cannot be retrofitted into older hardware" to be about a year. Just because the new and better can't be retrofitted, doesn't mean that the older hardware is a problem. If you are one of those people who just have to have the most cutting edge version of things, then expect to replace just about every electronic you have every 1 - 2 years.

With iPad 1 it's simple. I used it a lot for navigation with Tomtom and iGo. Last version of maps I can use is 2 years old. The real problem is not a speed, but RAM. Apps crash because of low RAM. I can survive lower speed of new app versions, but I can hardly resolve small RAM. It's just not enough. And now even with Safari or any other browser I faced low RAM issue. Accept Opera. But Opera is other story.

As for 4S it's a bit different. Few businesses apps I used require more RAM. Again, speed is still OK.

So I see low RAM issue is a bottleneck for Apple phones and tablet products life cycle. And I don't see no any reason accept boost of sales not to add extra RAM.

Now I have iPhone 6 with at least 1GB missed RAM. Next year iPhone 6S will be released with 2Gb RAM on board I suspect. So I think life cycle of iPhone 6 at this perspective could be even shorter then 3 years. But from another hand - who knows.

I have received 2 emails from Apple based on a post I made. They were seeking additional information in order to troubleshoot a software bug.

The article to which you linked explains why the iPhone doesn't need as much RAM as an Android phone. So, it seems to be directly refuting your assertions.
