Turning off camera shutter sound in iPhone 6

I just received my new iPhone 6. I know that you can mute the camera shutter sound by muting the phone with the button on the side, but this just doesn't work for iPhone 6. Is it just me? How can I fix it?

Are you in Japan? If you are then you can't turn off the shutter sound, even if you turn the ringer off. Phones in Japan do not allow people to silence the shutter noise. It is to prevent people from taking sneak photos.

ANY device that originates in a country where it is illegal to silence the shutter sound will make that sound when you take a photo. You can't silence it. It's based on the country where the device was originally sold. Only a vanishingly small percentage of devices sold in one country are permanently taken to another country to be used. It would not be worth the hassle to come up with a system that made allowances for that.

Hi! I've been struggling with this too. Finally I decided that I couldn't take it anymore so I started looking for other ways to mute the sound and I found one. Just download the app "S Camera" from the app store (there's a free version and there's a paid version). You can use it to take photos without the sound. You have to use the camera from the app for this to work. It also mutes the music your playing when you use this app. This helped me a lot and I hope it helps you too. 🙂 God bless!

I agree 100%. I don't understand how Google glass can do this and yet my Iphone can't. I have found an unconventional loophole, however, as I am in

college and often take pictures of lecture notes and assignments. Get this http://m.ebay.com/itm/Headphone-Cable-Adapter-Connector-Audio-For-Lifeproof-iPho ne-6-6-Plus-Case-Black-/301644717409?nav… and plug it in. Any adapter in this case kills the volume to your speakers, I hope this helps!

This is Japanese law, not Apple policy. It is not the responsibility of Apple, or any other device seller, to inform the customer of the laws and regulations of the country or region in which he or she is buying the device. That's like an American buying an automobile in the UK and complaining that the steering wheel is on the right side of the car.

It's the consumer's responsibility to be informed.

Thanks, it helped, but we cannot take the full use of the iPhone camera features such as SLO-MO and PANO

Yes, you can. Yes, there will be a shutter noise. Unless you're taking pictures of people without their knowledge (rude and possibly illegal), taking pictures where it is illegal or where it would be disrespectful to take pictures at all, this shouldn't be an insurmountable problem. Put your finger over the speaker. It will almost completely silence the sound.

If you purchased your phone from Apple or an authorized reseller, it will be from the region where you purchased it.

I bought an Iphone in Japan and only just discover the shutter sound issue. this is serious to me because sometimes in symposiums I need to take pictures of presentation (legally) and it's now not possible with the shutter sound. I have read somewhere that 3rd party camera app can mute it, but I tried several things like Camera 360, ProCamera but the sound still present. Can someone recommend an app?
