Turning off camera shutter sound in iPhone 6

Same problem in S. Korea, apparently. Had I known I would've purchased my iPhone 6 in the U.S. Quite annoying when you're trying to take pictures of your kids at a school musical performance, say. Does anyone know if this is true of Samsung's or other smartphones sold in Japan or Korea? I see other people taking pictures "silently" on non-iPhone devices.

I did chat with a representative on this website; the only solution is to contact the seller. For the people who are having the same issue as everyone else would suggest to do the same is to contact the seller.

In those few m***** ***king country the mute button doesn't even work (works for everything but camera & screen capture)

I recently bought an iPad (not even a phone) and everytime whe I take screen capture of what I'm doing on my iPad it makes the shutter noise at the MAX volume level. This is bloody ridiculous and has to be fixed. I bought it as my personal mini laptop I can carry & work with. NOT TO TELL THE WHOLE WORLD that I'm taking screenshot of my application to send it to client !!!!

Maybe this is way too late but hey! I got an answer and hope it helps.

Just open the app that you can lower the volume (not lower the ringer). Lower it till the mute symbol shows up. Then open the camera app and voila! You can use your camera without any shutter sound.

How is this possible? This is totally illegal to sell something and not warn people of what they are buying. If there a return policy ?

What if you don't live in Japan. Can the sound be shut off?

Apologize? For what? Apple doesn't make the law that states it is illegal to turn of the camera sound. Speak with your government representative.

I am from India and i am also not able to mute my shutter sound, after muting the device also.

This is a very BAD point toward Apple !

I visited Korea for 2 weeks and broken my iPhone 5. I imediately bought a new gold iPhone 6s just one week ago, then came back to Saudi Arabia!

I feel that I want to throw my new iPhone into trash and never buy another iPhone from Apple!! This note was not described on it and never mentioned by the selling office!

Going to switch into Samsung for the first time!

The answer hasn't changed since the last time you asked. No.

Buy the phone in the country in which you will primarily reside. It will save you trouble in the long run.

I bought Iphone 6 in Japan, and have no problem turning off the shutter sound. You just turn ON the LIVE button, and the shutter sound is off, but there's a small "ping' sound instead. Not as bad as the shutter sound though. Hope this helps.

I live in Sri Lanka and i bought an iPhone 6s recently. I got the same problem that the phone makes scary shutter nice when taking pictures and screenshots. I thought my phone has a technical fault. Apple must find a solution for this.

I felt it is inappropriate to buy a certified refurbished phone that came from another country in which people do not live on that country. For example, living in the United States and we bought our phone online that came from Japan, the phone is under the Japanese law like what Hannah just mentioned. I felt if we live in our own country, we deserved to purchase a phone within our country and not outside our country. I would suggest contacting the seller where you bought the phone.

If you would have bought your Apple IPhone on this site depending on your own country, it should be fine. However, if you bought your Apple IPhone outside your country and outside the Apple website, it is best to contact the seller. The Apple Technician will help you track down where the phone came from by the model number, but they will not resolve your issue if you have bought your phone outside the Apple website.
