I want to post a question and I keep receiving this error message- "You are not allowed to create or update this content". Can somebody tell me what the problem is?

OK. this MAY be easily solved when you understand the "structure" of these forums

You can only post in a "leaf" or "child" forum (depending your preferred metaphor)

this illustrates how "iPhone" is a "limb" or "parent" and you cannot post in it - but can in the "sub-forums" that appear as links

iPhone >

Using iPhone

iPhone Hardware

iPhone in Business and Education

iPhone Accessories

At the end of the New Discussion posting process, you need to make a choice of where to put it

Look what happens when I "Test"

User uploaded file

THEN, look what happens when I type the word "iPhone" = ALL by ITSELF

User uploaded file

SOME forums are BOTH parent AND child - like "Using Apple Support Communities" or "Apple ID"

Now, that's really weird. I just CANNOT post my question, but I can write here no problem...

My Iphone 7 has horrendous sound quality. People keep asking me to ring again, because they cannot understand me at all. Tried to ask about help, and mentioned that I wasn't rung back from the Apple support as promised, that it took 15 mins to get through, and that my try to get help via chat also gave the answer "I wasn't allowed that pathway.

I'm not a conspiracist, but this gets on my nerves...

Hi. The forums are arranged in a tree, with a name on each node. You can only post in the forums at the ends of the branches (leaf forums). When you go to iPhone from the top Support Communities menu, there are 4 subforums, including Using iPhone. When you try to post, it offers a menu, and you must pick from the menu. The easiest way is to click through to the desired forum, then create the post there. Because it's all just javascript, the functionality is not as reliable as it could be.

"You are not allowed to create or update this content" in Apple Communities discussion forums. That was driving me nuts as well. The workround is as follows until Apple fully fixes the issue:

- Make sure you set Safari to Preferences Advanced Zoom 100% (150% causes the issue) to see content that otherwise does not show on large Apple Display 22-inch (!!!).

- Select forum. That is critical. If you cannot, search for it. For instance, search for iMac to show such forum and select it.

- Select section (click the appropriate button; for instance, Display). That is also critical.

- Post, and now it works.

Apple, please, please, please, fix it. This is frustrating and did not happen before. It is the new forum design. Thanks.
