I want to post a question and I keep receiving this error message- "You are not allowed to create or update this content". Can somebody tell me what the problem is?

OK. this MAY be easily solved when you understand the "structure" of these forums

You can only post in a "leaf" or "child" forum (depending your preferred metaphor)

this illustrates how "iPhone" is a "limb" or "parent" and you cannot post in it - but can in the "sub-forums" that appear as links

iPhone >

Using iPhone

iPhone Hardware

iPhone in Business and Education

iPhone Accessories

At the end of the New Discussion posting process, you need to make a choice of where to put it

Look what happens when I "Test"

User uploaded file

THEN, look what happens when I type the word "iPhone" = ALL by ITSELF

User uploaded file

SOME forums are BOTH parent AND child - like "Using Apple Support Communities" or "Apple ID"

I wouldn't say it's a bug. If I follow your steps, and I start to make a thread I have to scroll down a ways to see my "post" button. And what do I see when I scroll down far enough?

The interface, by greying out "iPad," tells me I have two options for my post. Put it in "Using iPad" or "iPad in Business and Education." You could argue that it would maybe be better to display that info as a check box or something similar, rather than a text box, but I'd hardly call that a "bug."

A UX bug is like any other bug. You are getting results that you didn't expect. In this case, uses is asked to enter a question. The user enters a questions and gets an error.

If you add 5+5 and get A would you think this was a bug or not. You could say not because didn't you know we were adding in hex. A hex A after all is 10.

Maybe with your CSS changes it looks that simple. When you go through the flow you described earlier, you also have to title your thread, write a post, and choose a community for the post to go. It's all spelled out for you. If you just type iPad there the UI tells you that you can't post to "iPad," but that you can post to Using iPad and iPad in Business and Eduaction (check my post you replied to for a screenshot). If you don't put anything there, you can't post. If you try to select a community that doesn't exist or one you are not allowed to post to, it gives you an error and won't post. I can't see where the bug lies.

If you don't check off "I agree to the ToS" when signing up for an online account, and it doesn't let you sign up for said account, is that a bug or user error?

Things always change.

Here's the easiest way for me. Instead of going to the Welcome page, asking a question, then being told to post your question and chosing a Forum I start in the Forum I want the question to appear in.

If you want your question to end up in this Forum (Using ASC,) tap Post then Discussion. Your page might not be identical to the one in the screenshot. There are changes to the page as you gain points.
