iPhone 6 Motion Calibration Always Using Location Services

try resetting your network settings. Seems to have helped mine out.

jjust took aimetti's advice to reset network settings and the motion calibration seems to be off for now. will update again on it's effectiveness in the coming days 🙂

I will try doing this myself. I don't think this setting pertains to the M8 chip, as I turned off the motion calibration and my steps were still counted in the Health app.

I tried resetting the network settings but that did not work Would turning this off affect the M8's ability to track steps / stairs / distance?

Update: ok resetting network settings didn't seem to solve the problem. it's still using location services! I just switched it off, will be using the RunKeeper app later to check if anything's off

i have reset the network settings but it doesnt seemed to have reduced the frequency that location services icon appears.

would it be worth resetting the iphone completely and starting as a new phone rather than restoring from iphone5 backup?

Out of interest I have fully reset my iPhone 6 (erase all data and content) and then set it up as a new iPhone and installed my app's again and recreated email accounts etc. Bit of a bind but my Motion Calibration has been on since and not once has it shown the location arrow, seems quite conclusive for me that restoring an iPhone 5 backup to my iPhone 6 caused the issue.

I have deleted my iPhone 5 backup and will create a new iPhone iCloud backup once all the app's are installed.

Im off now to download all my Music and Video from Purchases.

Same problem here. "Motion Calibration" is always using the location services. New iPhone 6 with restored iTunes Backup.

I don't want to set it up as a new phone. So I hope there is another solution. Resetting the network settings didn't help here as well.

Been doing some reading about this and found something that may solve the problem, thought I should share it here. The technique is to go to settings > general > reset > reset location & privacy. This seems to turn on all the system location services, so you'll have to redo those the way you like them. And I believe individual apps will ask permission going forward. But I've done this and I can say that my constant arrow in the top right is gone for the time being. Haven't fully set my preferences back up for all my location services, but so far so good. Hope this is a solution, fingers crossed.

Just tried out your suggestion on resetting location settings, seems to work thus far! Haven't been running lately so had no chance to use the RunKeeper app (oops). Great suggestion BanComicSans, hopefully it'll remain as so for the Motion Calibration!

Doesn't seem to be working =l I just switched it off and there doesn't seem to be any difference. will probably leave it turned off 🙂

I Tried all these suggestions and my health app is still tracking my movement. I don't want it to do this and or use whatever it's using to do that. How do I stop this. Help me!

Bad news folks. Looks like that reset just turns off the icon in the status bar lol. Wonk wonk. Back to the drawing board.
