iphone 6 plus rotation problem

After reading this thread, I changed my display setting to standard, (it was zoomed from the factory) and the rotation problem goes away. Kind of weird...

Since the initial report with v8.0.2, I concluded via several attempts/tests that compass re-calibration is only temporary. I also ran "Reset All Settings" however after a day rotation was again stuck in apps.

I have since updated to iOS v8.1 and have not had an issue after 6 days. I will continue to test and close issue #18686886 if rotation lock does not return in another week.

I also am on 8.1, and when I set the display to "Zoomed", the home screen will not rotate. Same problem as B4. The only way to get the rotation is to set the display to "Standard".

You need to post more details like whether you're using the new 8.1 OS or not. Some have claimed that the 8.1 update has fixed the issue but if you're still having the issue after the update it could be reasonably assumed that it's a hardware issue. My phone is still fine now after replacement.

Ample testing, problem solved.

If having rotation-lock issue, do the following in no particular order:

• Update to iOS 8.1
• Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
• Settings > Display... > View > Standard

I just purchased 2 iPhone 6 plus today. One of it setup up fine. Set the display zoom to standard and rotation worked. My 2nd one took me 3 hours to figure out WTH is wrong with it. Tried "reset all settings," "erase all home screen layout" and still didn't work. I did the "Erase all content and settings" and rotation works. This is basically the factory reset. Through multiple trial and errors. I noticed the rotation always works until I restore it to my iPhone 5s restore point, which was done this morning. Don't know if this will work for everyone, but if you're still pulling your hair out, why not give it a shot? Btw, when setting up the 1st iPhone 6 plus, I also did a restore the another 5s i have. That one worked with no hick up. No idea why, but my problem is solved. Good luck guys!

update to iOS 8.1.1 on iPhone 5s - after some testing the bug remains unsolved (as well as the multitouch bug for closing two windows)

I had the same problem and this fixed it.

Pull up screen from bottom and unlock portraie orientation It's the little symbol all the way to the right with a lock symbol. Good luck I jiust did it and my rotation works now
