music syncing problems iPhone 6

I have 128 gig iPhone 6 and I am trying to sync a 80 gig music library to it. The sync process gets hung on "Waiting for changes to be applied". I am syncing on a a 128 macbook pro with retina display and my iTunes library is on external hard drive.

Sorry if this has been posted in the previous pages.

I figured out today that since my iPhone 5 was named the same as my new 128gb iPhone 6 Plus it created this issue with sync.

I changed the iphone5 name to a default name and then plugged in the new 6 Plus, currently it is syncing properly. If your old device shares the same name simply rename it in iTunes when it appears as a device.

Still having these issues, with 8.1 and iTunes Windows 12.0.1.26 - For the last few weeks (before 8.1) I had to empty all music and videos off each week then put videos back then music. Not fun. First sync after 8.1 was successful - thought the problem was solved. But now on week 2 (I tend to update videos and resync on weekends) I'm dead in the water again, now struggling to get the music and videos off in hopes of starting again with a restore. Other notable problem is the 'space map' bar at the bottom is way off - telling me I'm OVER CAPACITY when at last real count there were 40G+ free.

Anyway, hope Apple is listening and hard at work. Not sure if this is only 128G phones, but if they sell 'em they should test and support 'em.

Have you tried to sync manually? This seems to be working for me.

I have an iPhone4...still waiting fro my iPhone6.

My iPhone wouldn't sync with the new iTunes update for iOS 8, no matter what I did. I tried to "check" sync over wi-fi. "uncheck" sync over wi-fi.....blah blah blah. And that never resolved the issues.

My 2nd gen iPad2 wouldn't sync either. I have been on a rampage for the last week to find out why and nobody's suggestions resolved the issue.

My devices sync'd just fine before the update.

And I noticed that the new album art was't being saved, after the iOS 8 update, because the artwork was gone when I re-opened the app.

I fixed it on my system, I hope this will help everyone.

I searched for iTunes 10 and found that it was was available from Apple. So I went into the finder, clicked on "Go", then selected "applications", found iTunes, and threw it right into the trash bin.

Then I downloaded iTunes 10 and attempted to install it. "Attempted" because it didn't work. I was prompted that there was an update. So I let it update back and guess what...it updated to 11.4.😐😐

So I opened iTunes and clicked on sync.............and it sync'd🙂.🙂

Hi All,

I have the same issues as most of the users here.

I have a 128 GB iPhone 6 and I am using the latest iTunes 12 for Windows with around 85 GB for 15,000+ songs that I have purchased over the last 25 years, so a huge music fan here. I went for the bigger iPhone becuause it has enough storage to sync the whole library (so no need to carry around my iPod Classic when I want it all). I also have iTunes Match (which I am thinking of dumping at the next re-subscription date - but that's a different matter).

At first, I noticed that all songs apart from the ones purchased in the iTunes store were copied over via sync. I could not get to sync the purchased ones at all. Then I noticed this little post about duplicates: http://robservatory.com/a-nasty-little-itunesios-bug-may-be-causing-media-sync-i ssues/

I found one album which had 14 of its 28 songs duplicated. However, when I listened to them, they were completely different songs, but cut to the length of the original album songs. Something must have gone wrong in the past, since I always backup my iTunes library locally every now and then, and the old one had these duplicates as well. After I removed them, the sync went well once with ALL songs. By then, I had already restored my device several times.

So, let's make this clear: Yesterday, before I decided to transfer the new Foo Fighters album to iTunes that I had bought on Tuesday, I had all my 15,000+ songs on my iPhone - and I was happy... and scared to sync so that I would have the new FF album on the phone. But I just can"t leave this album unsynced - I have to listen to it... it's the new Foo Fighters album, after all! ;-)

Turns out my reservations towards the sync were right.

Tried to sync. Took ages in 'Waiting for the changes to apply'. Cancelled sync. Lost a few songs including album art on the phone. Tried to delete all music on the phone through 'General -> Usage'. Did not work. Un-checking 'sync music' would leave orphaned songs that come up as 10GB of 'other'.

So I backed up the phone yesterday and restored it for the n-th time over night, hoping it would work and transfer everything from scratch. Woke up this morning finding the phone had not synced. Tried to sync at least the FF album. Took ages. Stopped the sync, un-checked music to be synced, applied, changed it back to only sync the FF album, and then it worked within seconds.

I must have tried every single solution people came up with, but this seems to be an iTunes, iOS or iPhone issue that Apple will have to fix.

I think I will try once more to copy EVERYTHING over, then never sync again until Apple finds a fix.

It's really upsetting given the fact that a lot of people who bought the 128 GB model chose it for exactly these reasons: to be able to sync their whole lotta music and have it with them all the time.

I really hope Apple will publish a fix soon. They are not doing themselves any favours here.

Interesting... I docked the iPhone in Airplane mode and opened iTunes to sync. It stuck a bit in 'Awaiting...' phase. Then I remembered that turning off passcode sometimes helps. I also went to update the apps in iTunes. As soon as I did that, it started syncing and is now showing the total of all songs, including purchased... let's see how it goes... not sure what triggered the sync (or if it was needed at all). This kind of randomly weird behaviour surely makes troubleshooting a lot harder.

I am having the same issue with my iPhone6, iPhone6 plus and iPad Air2. I have worked with a Apple Tech for over three weeks. She has been wonderful and trying everything. She reviewed things with the Apple Engineers and today we tried removing all the virus and malware applications off my computer. She did a computer dump that I sent to her and she took it to the Engineers and said she would call me back in a few days.I reloaded my main virus scan which is Kaspersky. I got to thinking that virus scan programs may interfere with other applications. I went to the Kaspersky web site and question incompatibilities with iTunes. It came up with an answer to add all the iTunes programs/applications on my computer to the "trusted applications" portion of the program. So I followed their instructions and then decided to try and sync my devices. All my devices that were having problems, sync'd perfectly! What a shocker. This may be an area everyone should look into with their virus scan/malware programs that are operation on their computers. Good luck!

I have been on the phone and email with Tech. Did everything they asked (including using a fresh computer with only the base install), still never worked. out so its NOT Virus Malware. Seems that the only music that ever stays on is the stuff purchased via itunes, the rest is wiped away every sync. I have to turn off iTunes Match since they don't support libraries over 25,000 songs (Which is nothing). So still waiting on tech support after three weeks to come up with a solution.

It seems like they are trying to push the Itunes match with each update as you have to go and turn it off with the new 8.1.1 as you did with 8.0 & 8.1. Wonder is that is the issue?

Well - a couple of months down the road and this problem seems to be endemic.

I've now on what must be my 50th attempt at sync-ing my playlist. It's pretty much something that I have to do every 2 days or so. When I am at home I'm unable to use my phone because it's attached to my laptop all the time.

Here's what I've tried so far.

I am attempting to to sync around 8000 tracks - ranging in length from 2 minutes up to about an hour.

1. I've split the playlist up into a playlist for each letter of the alphabet - I then sync them one at a time. Trying to sync 8000 tracks in one go seems to make it fall over. As I sync each letter I will wait until it;s complete and will make a note of tracks which itunes says it did not manage to convert and I will remove them from the playlist - there is no rhyme or reason to which tracks it says it can't convert. I've also noticed that even when itunes says it can't convert a track, if you leave it on the playlist itunes will give it another go and will successfully add it to the phone.

2. Usually it is all going fine until about the 7,000 mark which is when it will simply hang (although it looks as if it is still sync-ing, what it is in fact doing is wiping everything off apart from iTunes purchased tracks). I've noticed that the first sign of impending disaster is that all the artwork disappears. Next step is that the "Other" category blows up to about 50GB thereby stopping any further sync-ing. Then I have to re-load the last back-up. Originally I was doing a factory re-set but this doesn't seem to be necessary.

I'm now pretty much resigned to just having perhaps 2000 tracks on my phone

I have a vague recollection that there was a similar issue with ipod classics about 2 years ago. Tracks on a sync-ing playlist would "grey out" for no apparent reason which would then cause the sync to hang.

I've been using Apple devices for over 10 years. If this isn't fixed soon then I'm looking for another phone. Maybe these phones are now so complex that their own engineers don't understand how they work?

I have got the same problem with iphone 6 128 and Ipad mini 128. the music sync updating process just doesn't work since they changed to itunes 12. I'm having this problem over and over again. The changes taht you make to your library are not applied and itunes stayed blocked on "waiting changes to be applied" for ever. The only thing to do is to remove music library from your device on on itunes and resync all again. the only thing is that most of the times, it's not even done properly so the "invisible not erased music library is kept until "other" occupying your device space for nothing. then except using external programs to access your device memory... the only thing you can do from itunes is reinstalling IOS from scratch and resync it all. Too bad. Apple is becoming a mess again!

Heres my issue. When I plug in my "restored" 6 Plus, the connection with my iMac & iTunes is fast & smooth. BUT, as I add more Playlists to the phone, the color wheel starts & each step slows to 10-30 seconds. After I restore, it's quick again. Thoughts? I am running Yosemite, the new iTunes and the latest iPhone 6 iOS. This never happened with any phones up to my 5S, but has happened consistently with my 6 and 6 Plus. I click and drag Playlists. I'm an album weirdo. The more albums I manually clicked & dragged, the slower each step took (clicking the phone, hitting "add", hitting "playlists", hitting the actual playlist, the dragging it to the phone) The more gigs of music on the phone, the more the color wheel spins with each step....but like I mentioned, after I've restored, it's very fast

If this helps at all, I have a large music library as well, and cannot get it to sync chunks of tracks greater than 100.

Just did 99 and it worked.

Just started having this problem after upgrading to Windows 10 and iOS 8.4 (unfortunately did both around the same time)

Currently running Windows 10 x64 on my PC, 64 bit iTunes.

Have a 64 GB iPhone 6 iOS 8.4.1
