iPhone 6 not connecting to car Bluetooth

So I got my iPhone 6 yesterday, and while all seems well, I can't get it to connect to my car's Bluetooth system. My older 5S running iOS8 does fine, so I don't think is the OS... And, frankly, this is an after market bluetooth set up in my 2006 Murano, but all other phones can connect, just not the iPhone 6.

There is no manual for the car's system, but I've managed to get it to "search", and while the car does find my phone, there is no way to enter a code on the phone to get it to pair properly. And the phone NEVER sees the BT module in the car to do the pairing.

Again, this is NOT a iOS 8 problem... but one with the new iPhone 6

For everyone having this issue, this worked for me. My phone too was not showing the PIN for my Ford Sync. I got angry and just spoke 4 random numbers into my Sync and my PIN pad suddenly appeared on my phone. I typed in that number and it connected. The SYNC wanted me to tell it what number I wanted to use. Hope this helps someone out there as I see this issue on several vehicles. Try it and it might work for you.

I have a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder and a 2015 Nissan Leaf, both with bluetooth phone and audio streaming support. Both worked fine with iPhone 5s running latest iOS 7.

When I upgraded one iPhone 5s to iOS 8 and replaced the other with an iPhone 6Plus running iOS 8, both are having problems with both cars.

1. Both gave a "failed connection" message but the phones do actually pair.

2. Both cars show a phone handset with a line through it on the in-car display which means no connection.

3. The "5 bars" cell signal indicator on the in-car display no longer shows up.

3. Outgoing calls made from phone and put through car system work fine except for some garbled audio.

4. Incoming calls make the wrong screen appear on the nissan display and can not be answered by the display on the car. Pushing the answer button on the in-car display doesn't do anything.

Lots of other tiny issues. Apple needs a fix here. I called Nissan and they said it's 100% Apple's fault.

I would agree with Nissan since their stuff is mainly hardware. My IP6 paired fine right from the git-go on my Range Rover Evoque, but after countless tries on my '13 Mini Cooper, I've given up. I'm guessing Apple just didn't test this feature with different car makers.

Yes, the iPhone does a lot of things, but basically it's a mobile phone that most people expect to pair with their vehicles if for no other reason, to avoid breaking the law by only using "handsfree" while driving. Take this feature away and the phone is then worth maybe 25% of what Apple is charging for them if that.

Thanks! I'll try that in the morning when my head is clearer from evening beverages. I was leery about resetting the settings part of the equation. I assume that means mostly options under Preferences. I do have a few apps that contain data that I would rather not lose. I think I'll do another backup to iTunes before crossing that Rubicon .

I Just was able to pair the iPhone 6 plus with the Bluetooth on the 2007 Camry. Though the display still says incorrect name of phone and doesn't say it is connected on startup.

The trick for me was to delete the pairing of the old iPhone 5 that I had by using the Camry display pane. Then to register the newly found iPhone 6 plus on the Camry display pan when I turned on the Bluetooth on the iPhone 6 plus.

The iPhone did not display an input for the PIN to register until I TOUCHED the iPhone 6 text line on the iPhone. If I didn't do thi, I would not have gotten the PIN input prompt.

I Did not need to reset any settings on my iPhone 6 plus and I setup the iphone 6 plus with a prior backup of my IPhone 5.

8.0.2 appears to have solved it for me.

I tried my iPhone 6 this morning before updating. Did not work, as recounted by many on this post. Updated to 8.0.2 and went to my car, no problem sending or receiving calls. Did not have to do anything to the car or iPhone after the update, it simply connected and worked. Time will tell if this really is a fix.

A couple of questions. What year is you Mini? And where do you hold the phone while pairing? I tried mostly around the center circle on the Mini, but tried other locations as well without success. I've done your procedures above with no apparent effect in this quest to pair my phone.

I turn Bluetooth on, and then the screen pops up that shows any devices. Below that, I see "Other devices" with the spinning ball. When I'm in the Mini, after a few seconds, I see "Minixxxxx" with the x=5 digits. If I do nothing, the spinning ball continues. If I click on "Minixxxxx", a new spinning ball appears on that line and my Mini display circle changes to the screen where I would put the 4 digit code if one popped up on my iPhone. However, it just keeps spinning until the center display times out and then prompts something like "try again".

When I first tried to pair the phone a few days ago, I thing a 4 digit code may have appeared, but I hit something by accident and it went away. I'm not sure that happened, but I think it did.

Very frustrating to say the least...
