iPhone 6 not connecting to car Bluetooth

So I got my iPhone 6 yesterday, and while all seems well, I can't get it to connect to my car's Bluetooth system. My older 5S running iOS8 does fine, so I don't think is the OS... And, frankly, this is an after market bluetooth set up in my 2006 Murano, but all other phones can connect, just not the iPhone 6.

There is no manual for the car's system, but I've managed to get it to "search", and while the car does find my phone, there is no way to enter a code on the phone to get it to pair properly. And the phone NEVER sees the BT module in the car to do the pairing.

Again, this is NOT a iOS 8 problem... but one with the new iPhone 6

For everyone having this issue, this worked for me. My phone too was not showing the PIN for my Ford Sync. I got angry and just spoke 4 random numbers into my Sync and my PIN pad suddenly appeared on my phone. I typed in that number and it connected. The SYNC wanted me to tell it what number I wanted to use. Hope this helps someone out there as I see this issue on several vehicles. Try it and it might work for you.

Most likely not possible. The added BT unit is buried deep in the dash, and I'm not about to take it apart for this.

Given that the phone can connect to other BT devices, and other BT devices can connect to the car, I'm just going to assume this is some weird incompatibility issue that won't be resolved, or it will be fixed by an update to iOS8. Fingers crossed that's sooner than later.

Hello,

Thanks for your post.

I got my iPhone 6 last night. I had an iPhone 5S before running iOs8.

I have 2 cars: 2013 Ford CMAX Energi and a 2014 Porsche Cayenne.

After upgrading to iOS8 on the iPhone 5S, no problem to place and receive call on the CMAX. But on the Porsche it was a nightmare. The calls started then after two ringtones the call disconnected. I had to remove all the devices on my iPhone 5S bluetooth profile and the same on the Porsche. After the pairing was done I push the home button and on/off button. Then the connection was ok.

Now with the iPhone 6. The nightmare is back.

I was able to pair and connect the iPhone 6 on the CMAX. But as soon as I try to place a call, I hear the first ring, then the call is disconnected. Ford Sync even shows me that I just have one reception bar when in reality I have full reception on the phone.

Now for the Porsche, same issue. I was able to pair the phone. When I try to place a phone call after one ring the call is disconnected.

One the two cars I reseted to Factory setting both Synch system and PCM. Reseted the network settings on the iphone 6. Remove all the bluetooth devices, restored the phone. Then pair again the phone same issue.

I tried the wife' iPhone 6 same issue...

Based on this troubleshoot and taking under consideration the iPhone 5S with iOS was working it looks like there is an issue with the iPhone 6.

I was just on the phone with an Apple iPhone Tech support guy who just talked to one senior support guy. He just told me that there is a compatibility issue between the bluetooth used on the iPhone 6 and some car navigation/bluetooth. He told me that the issue is coming from Apple. And a solution maybe be provided at a later time in a patch.

This is where we are standing right now...

I just brought my iPhone 6 home today and I can't get it to pair with either of my Bluetooth devices.

My car (2014 Honda CRV) has a factory hands-free setup that worked fine with my iPhone 4s. When I follow the instructions in the owners' manual to pair the iPhone, the car can see the iPhone, but it keeps giving me an error message that pairing them failed. It suggests that, if that doesn't work, I should try doing it from the iPhone--but the iPhone doesn't even show that it sees my car system.

Then, I have a Bose Bluetooth headset (series 2) that also worked fine with the 4s. When I turn it on, the blue light blinks slowly, which means it's discoverable. But when I try to pair it with the 6, sometimes it will show "Headset" on the iPhone Bluetooth settings screen, and sometimes not--sometimes the wheel just spins and spins and nothing ever shows up. When it does show that it sees the headset, if I choose it, a few seconds later the iPhone tells me that pairing failed, and I should check to see if the headset is on (it is) and discoverable (it is).

So far I've tried cycling the power on everything; putting the iPhone on Airplane Mode for a few minutes, then turning that off; resetting the network settings on the iPhone; taking the iPhone out of the case; and a lot of swearing (didn't think that last would help, but I felt better). I'll be calling AppleCare in the morning.

Update--I got the phone to pair with the Bose headset, at least! I went back to the Bose website and found a link to download a firmware update for it. After I installed it, the headset showed up by name on my iPhone--not just a generic "headset" label. It paired then on the first try. Apple doesn't seem to want to let me post the link to the Bose website, but if anybody else has this headset, it's not that hard to find.

So now I'm wondering if my car system has the same problem...and how to get the software update for it! I'm still calling AppleCare tomorrow to see if they have any ideas, but I expect I'll be calling Honda on Monday.

And now I've gotten my phone to sync with my car. I went out this morning to try it again, and to call AppleCare if necessary. I looked at the car's manual again and realized I was looking at the instructions for pairing a phone for the first time with the car--and on the next page there were slightly different directions for pairing a new phone. I went into it that way, deleted my old phone, and this time the car found my new phone with no trouble at all.

Now, to see if I can pair the new phone with my Bluetooth speakers at work...wish me luck!

Having same issue myself and its very frustrating. Just like many others here...i had a 5S until friday on iOS 7 (not 8) and it was working perfectly fine in my 2011 honda accord which has handsfree calling capability. with the iPhone 6, it even connects to the handsfree but it doesn't WORK! when i try to make a call or when a call comes, i can't hear anything from the car speakers and have to end up taking the call on the phone itself. I can't fig out if this is a hardware (6 vs 5s) issue or software (iOS 7 vs iOS 8)....because it was working on iOS 7 iPhone 5s...but not on the 6 with iOS 8....but i am HOPING its iOS 8 because from what i read online both 5s and 6 have same bluetooth version (4.0)..and not sure calling honda about my car bluetooth would be any good...so really hoping apple releases a fix for this..i heavily rely on this.
