Voice Memos Issues After IOS 8 Upgrade

I have iPhone 6 and an IMac, I have tried just about everything mentioned in every post I can find and nothing works. The voice memos are completely invisible on iTunes. There is no folder, they are not in my music, not even visible, except on my iPhone. Is there any other way to see them, grab them or send them. The one file is large and I figure the only way to do this, is to trim the 58 minutes to smaller files. Also, anyone know what the maximum time allotment is for emailing? This is really frustrating Apple, you guys need to fix this STAT!

I also had problems with my Voice Memos after upgrading to iOS 8. On top of that, I can't back up my phone anymore to iTunes. Neither to iCloud. But I can sync at times with my laptop. Funnily, some new voice memos on my phone got uploaded into my iTunes, but some don't. Last night, when i connected my phone to my laptop, I could see the latest voice memo reflected under my device's "Voice Memo". But as the sync got stuck on copying photos, I stopped the sync. So that voice memo did not get transferred to my laptop. Today, my laptop can't even detect that latest voice memo under my device's "Voice Memo" in iTunes, but I can see it under my device's "Music". When I tried to sync, that voice memo did not get uploaded to my laptop. However, when I trimmed it, and gives it another name, it finally gets uploaded to my laptop and also appears under my device's "Voice Memo". 🙂 I hope Apple finds a resolution to all these issues, as you can see, there are already 4 pages of this discussion on this topic.

I had the same problem. The only solution after a dozen of attempts was iTools. This Chinese program is very good! Keep in mind that Voice memos are stored not Music, but in Files.

FYI people.... Using an MacBook Pro and Garage Band, I was able to record the voice to analog, and then back to a digital MP3 format. It's still on my iPhone, but that is how I got is OFF my iphone. Ironic - but I was able to bypass this major bug! Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice. I installed iTools and got all my voice memos copied to PC😎. The only disadvantage is the suggested unnecessary softwares (well they can be avoid during the installations) and the ads popup at startup of the application. Good luck!

I seem to have a different problem. When I got my new iPhone 6Plus and then upgrade to latest operating system), I was able to retrieve my old voice memos although some of them were only labeled with the date (grrr... have to listen to them all to rename them). Now I can't save anything I record. I use this for dictation from my boss daily. When I saw that my first dictation didn't save, she graciously re-dictated... and it happened again. I had to type up her dictation from memory. It seems to record but when I name it and hit "save"... nothing! ***????

This app is the only thing that worked for me. After the install of ios8 on my iPhone 4s none of my voice recordings were showing up. Pretty disappointing that this hasn't been fixed yet!

It just defies belief that Apple has *still* not fixed this problem. I've not even seen anywhere that it has even been addressed, and yet there are people complaining about this going back at least two years now.

This problem is significant and can result in the loss of extremely valuable data. Something must be done.

has anyone tried the new iTunes Version (12.1). Apple fixed some synchronisation issues. Maybe voice memo sync is working again.

Just tried upgrading to iTunes 12.1. And as expected, the problem is still there:

iTunes does not see any voice memo recorded on iPhone after IOS8 and it will not sync it over to the Mac either.

So frustrating. Maybe i'll try to use some other desktop tools mentioned in earlier posts.

I was having the same problem. I have IOS 8.1.3

Like others, some memo just showed up on their won in iTunes. Others I was able to airdrop over and those wound up in downloads under apps. Some that were very long I was able to “trim” under edit on my iPhone’s voice mail. MAKING SURE TO SAVE IT AS AN ORIGINAL RECORDING. That way, the long original recording remained intact , and the new “original” recording was a segment that was small enough to be emailed though iCloud (around 20-30 mbs.) The trimming process is fairly intuitive; you can choose where to make your breaks, save them in chronological order, and even rename them in edit as their new parts. I hope this helps.

I just downloaded iBrowse from a 3rd party site which allowed me to see all of the files on my iPhone 5. I was then able to export the voice memo I was looking for to my desktop, and then pull it into Garageband for editing. Hope this is helpful. http://www.ibrowseapp.com/download/mac/

I have looked at 20+ "solutions" here in Apple Discussions, and on the internet, but NONE of them allow me to sync new Voice Memos with iTunes 12.1, iOS 8.1.3, iPhone 5S

RIght. None of the solutions here allowed me to sync my files.

I went for the 3rd party app iFunBox. Was able to get my files copied over to the Mac.

still no syncing tho.

I just ran into this issue. After doing some poking around, I found that if you re-name the voice memos on your phone, then sync with iTunes they will transfer. The only problem is the time it would take to re-name all of my voice memos.

Has anyone found an updated solution?
