iOS 8 upgrade and now missing airplay icon

I'm having the same problem with my 5S. Since upgrading to iOS 8, the AirPlay icon is missing from Control Center, nor is it available in Overcast. My AirPort Express is connected to an AirPort Extreme network. I'm pretty sure the network is fine, as AirPlay works as it has from my MacBook Pro.

Having the same issue with my iPhone 5 after upgrade to iOS 8. My Airport Express/Airplay is working fine from both my iPad (which I didn't yet upgrade to iOS 8) and from my MacBook.

Same thing with my iPhone5. After upgrading to IOS8 airplay icon disappeared. iPad air upgradw to IOS8 no problem.

Me too! iPhone 5.

Same here on iPad 2, 32GB, WiFi only. Was working fine in iOS 7.

However, I'm still able to select Air Play devices in DS Audio, an app for playing audio from my Synology NAS drive. But not from the iOS control center.

I have an iPad 4 64GB and had the Same Problem with the missing AirPlay Icon after updating to iOS8. I was able to resolve this by

restarting the iPad

switching wireless off and back on (this appears to refresh something to do with the network services in iOS8)

After this the AirPlay icon was back and I was able to stream audio as before.

Having the exact same problem. No icon, have to use control center to access Apple TV, and am experiencing frequent disconnects for

no apparent reason.

Problem solved. Don't ask me how. When I woke up this morning the Airplay icon had returned. The only thing I did yesterday was to restart my Airpot Base Station. I'm not sure if this corrected the problem.

Phone restart brought the AirPlay icon back to Control Center.

Have same problem after installing ios8 on ipad2 & iphone 5, AirPlay icon has disappeared. shutdown & reboot has not worked. Apparently some bug in ios8???

I had the same problem after installing iOS 8 on my iPad mini and the AirPort Express.

First I switched off the wireless on my iPad and back on like Paul Williams5 requested.

BUT it didn't work. The AirPlay button did not show up...

After reconnecting the AirPort Express in my WLAN network (via the AirPort setup > wireless) ...

it worked... the AirPlay Button is back

I was having the same problem. Swipe up from the bottom and you'll see that a little menu will come up called the control center. There you will find the option for airplay.

The problem of a missing AirPlay icon and missing AirPlay devices has not yet been fully resolved. The variations I've seen (on an iPad 4) are

1) There is NO AirPlay icon, only AirDrop

2) The AirPlay icon is there but when you open its popup the local device (iPad) displays at the top of the list followed by one other device. If you now wait the shown device scrolls sideways and shows another available device

3) The AirPlay icon is displayed and its popup window contains a current list of all available streaming devices. This is what we want!

HInt: Possibly there is something going on concerning the streaming capabilities of the available AirPlay devices. I've noted that my AppleTV is usually first up when devices start to appear and this offers picture and sound streaming (also screen cloning from suitable devices). After this the audio only streaming devices appear.

I Too have lost the AirPlay on swiping up.

when I switch Aiplay on from the control panel it turns off the WiFi
