30 pin to VGA adapter won't work since iOS 8

Thanks RC, appreciated. I did follow the links you suggest a few weeks ago and sent my feedback comments to Apple, but I've not had any response myself or noticed anywhere that they are listening to people, giving an explanation,or proposing some action. Perhaps if the many other users who have been affected by this OS8 problem and are following this community thread take your advice and also send their feedback and comments to Apple via the links you suggest, we might possibly get a response ??!!

Well, where to begin?! I have spent countless hours perusing the web for a solution and last night I FINALLY figured it out!!!! Here are the steps:

1. Connect the VGA adapter to your iPad

2. On your iPad, go to Settings > General > TV Out

3. Switch from NTSC to PAL

4. Go to browser window containing desired video

5. Expand video

6. If it still will not show, disconnect cable and connect once more.

This worked for me with an aftermarket cable. I have an iPad 2, and use Safari as a browser.

This seems to have upset a whole lot of people, especially teachers and church leaders. Now I am obliged to take my laptop if I want to use a projector. Maybe the answer is here: http://www.google.com/nexus/9/

I do not see TV out in Settings>General. Maybe this is an option not available outside the USA. But thanks for going to all that trouble! By the way I do get a brief VGA connection before the error message comes up on the iPad. I have just updated the IOS but no change.

I To use mine in the classroom, it worked fine last week (only purchased my mini last week to replace my old one) really unhappy that I spent money and now it's not working. I hope this is going to be fixed ASAP.

I have the answer to this problem.

Your Ipad VGA adapter is an Older firmware and the updated IOS doesn't support

it, you need to BUY a updated 1.0 VGA Adapter - it MUST say its a 1.0 or its the older

unit (Best buy sold me an old adapter 7/16) APPLE has the newer units for $29

What ipad model do you have?

I have an iPad 2 and was planning to get the 30 pin to VGA adapter. Until I saw this thread. Any chance iOS 8.1.1 update fixed it? Anyone tested it yet?

It's down to the older firmware version inside the adapter. See my comment 21st Oct...
