30 pin to VGA adapter won't work since iOS 8

I have the iPad 3rd generation. I use my iPad in my classroom and connect to the projector with a 30 pin to VGA adapter. It worked great until I installed iOS 8. Now I get an error message that the iPad does not recognize the device. Any one else struggling with this? Is there a fix?

We use an iPad2 to provide prompting for our sermons. We upgraded to iOS8 on Friday. Now we receive a message, 'iOS does not supprt this accessory' and the VGA adapter no longer works. Of course we discovered this when we attempted to do prompting for the sermon, so this was a rude and unpleasant discovery, to say the least.

When we use the 30 pin to HDMI cable to connect to an HDMI display, the iPad output works. Unfortunately, we have built our prompter system on VGA connections and really don't want to purchase a 30 pin to HDMI adapter AND an HDMI to VGA adapter to replace the VGA adapter that was working great until iOS8.. Has Apple withdrawn support for the 30 pin VGA adapter? If not, do you know of any fixes to address this?

Did some experiments for those who might be very desperate. I filled out a bug report with these experiments:

1) Used a generic 30 pin adapter (not by Apple), with vga and power in one adapter. I plugged it into my Ipad. It doesn't work and an error message, "device not supported" pops up. Plugged in the Apple 30 pin vga adapter instead, into my Ipad, doesn't work.

2) Hard reset Ipad.

3) Now, after Ipad has rebooted, now plug into Apple 30 pin VGA adapter into the Ipad, and it works!

As soon as you plug the non Apple vga adapter with power, it doesn't work and complains with error message, "device not supported."

I didn't use the power port of the generic 30 pin adapter, because it didn't make any difference.

Very frustrating ...

Generic 30 pin vga and power in one adapter worked before the update!

Now, again, if you plug in Apple vga adapter, it won't work unless a hard reset is done.

So, if you are in a bind, try the original Apple 30 pin adapter and hard reset your Ipad and see if this helps. It might work for those with lightning connectors, but don't have one to experiment.

Good luck!

I have this problem, too! I got angry because I need to use the VGA adaptor to present and train my college. Why there is no any announcement or inform that the iOS 8 will not support 30 pin VGA adaptor anymore before we update our system. Moreover, if I want to keep using the iCloud web Keynote, I have to update my iPad2 to iOS 8 then I cannot use my VGA adaptor to present anymore. It enforces me to update and show me that "device is not supported" ? I can only use VGA adaptor to present by my iPad and it doesn't work now. I hope Apple can fix it as soon as possible.
