iOS 8 iBooks Highlighting Everything

I'm running iBooks on my iPhone 5S on iOS 8. When I highlight blocks of text, starting at the top of the text and move down, it highlights the block as normal.

But - if I start at the top of the block and highlight to the bottom right or left of the screen - the ENTIRE text of the book before the highlight gets highlighted.

Very frustrating - I have spent a considerable amount of time highlighting my books and my highlights are getting completely ruined by this. I never had this problem in iOS 7 and I always read in portrait orientation.

wow, almost half a year later, and this still hasn't been fixed.

gotta say, something is fundamentally wrong with software at apple. with 10.10.2 there were max volume white noise blasts that would randomly happen. it's still not been patched. i mean, that can cause physical damage to hearing and equipment. and, this highlighting bug destroys people's work! any bug that has destructive power of any sort should be a top priority, but months on for both... and nothing.

i swear these near-illeagle software licenses need to be repealed, because bugs this bad should be class actionable. how far would einstein of gotten if all of his notes disappeared suddenly, and repeatedly? i've been an apple user for 20 years, and i have never been as angry at a bug before these two. seriously, apple... for shame.

Hah. Happened to me as well. Funny thing; I didn't learn the first three times it happened and kept going back and re-highlighting. Finally dawned on me it was a consistent problem after 18 pages of redo. Wouldn't mind much if it was a fiction book, but this one is on microbiology and purchased the ebook version specifically for this feature. Not happy, Apple.

Are we just groveling or getting anywhere? Other than scroll view (I can't seem to make that happen on my Mac even though I get it on my iphone (help?) what is the solution? Hello, this is driving me nuts. No kidding.
