iphone 6 cellular reception

OK so I've used iPhone since an iPhone 3 when apple anted to lock it into O2. I just bought payg and Jailbroke it. Being an avid apple fan I pre ordered and received the IP6 on release day. Have to say there are only so many ways to make a phone but the IP6 is really nice. However, the reception is shocking. The IP6 seems to drop cellular to No Service really easily when the IP5 still sits at 2 bars. Swapped the sim to check and it's the phone.

Let's have some honest answers, if the signal reception is weaker tell us now. I need the reception and a phone is now a phone so i'm getting to a point of practicality not brand. Let's hope the IP6 is as good as the rest.

Well, I had a surprise today - Mobiles.co.uk said they couldn't do a "doorstep swap" for my faulty phone, but they DID! So I have my new phone up and running already! So far, and it's been on for a few hours now, the signal IS consistently better. It's not the best, but it seems more consistent with what I'm used to. I'm on 3 bars or 2 instead of the 1 bar I was getting with the "old" phone. So maybe it's a batch issue. Mine is 64gb Gold on O2, if that helps anyone.

Both my wife and I both purchased iPhone 6's (hers gold, mine space gray purchased 1 week apart), and we are both coming from iPhone 5's and both still on AT&T here in the US.

Both of us are experiencing the same issue as the OP, in that places (like our home, and the commute path we take) where our iPhone 5's would have signal, our iPhone 6's both show significantly less reception.

In our home, where we have never had a problem with reception before, we both have rooms now where we can't make any calls due to no service. After testing the reception in a few areas I am used to looking at my phone, I would guess a minimum of 1-2 bars (or dots) reception less on the iPhone 6 than the 5.

Right now, as I write this from work, I was used to 5 bars consistently on my iPhone 5, I am only receiving 3 bars.

Update...

After 24 hours I can honestly say that this "new" Iphone 6 is only a little better than the other one, if that. It's still on IOS 8, so not updated it. It's a bit dodgy for wifi too. So to compare - 4s, 5s and this phone in the house - the two older models get consistently 3 bars - this new phone ranges from 1 to 3, but mostly 2 in our house. So it is still less but not as bad as the always 1 bar that I got with the earlier Iphone 6. However, took my husband's Iphone 4s and my phone into town today (both same network, just in case you were wondering) and tried to get the free wifi from the coffee shop. The 4s found it straight away (strong network) along with a few other less strong networks nearby. My Iphone 6 kept showing a message of zero networks and then said could not scan for wireless networks. Left it for 5 minutes then tried again and it finally found them, but not as many as the 4s found. So it seems there's a delay in finding the networks (which would or could link to how quickly it can or can find and switch from a poor 3G to a good gprs signal). So it's back to switching/finding issues. Really rubbish from Apple. Thinking of cancelling my upgrade and going to an LGG3 !!

Same thing here, tmobile usa. Got my iPhone 5 full signal iphone 6 next to it missing bars. Called apple today the representatives on the phone was a joke telling me " honestly I really don't know what to tell you" (thank you, just what I wanted to hear) when I said I would like to return it he said " I feel like your not complete with your order.. You probably wanted to check the phone" really sherlock?! Thats why I paid $700 and waited a week, to check your phone? . after 55min and 3 representatives this phone is going back to Apple. Crazy disappointment. their customer service got really bad

Same issue here... Iphone 6 keeps dropping my wifi (its already on WPA2), dropping my LTE, and has rather poor reception in comparison to my IP4 and 5. What i'd like to know is what Apple plans to do about this. As it seems, almost everyone that has an iPhone 6; have the same issues with wifi and poor reception. That sounds to me like a hardware issue, I happen to be on the Sprint network, but these issues are across all carriers so I know its not just Sprint. I'm going to visit my local Sprint store, and if we cant come to an agreement I think I'm going to switch to Samsung..

Did you ever get this resolved? I'm having the same issue.

I have this issue also. I have an IPhone 6 Plus 64GB on the AT&T network.

I've performed a hard reset, reset network settings, and turned on and off Airplane mode. I'm running 8.1.1

I have a fairly consistent "No Service" message and other times low signal strength. Callers are going straight to voicemail and other times getting through.
