iphone 6 cellular reception

OK so I've used iPhone since an iPhone 3 when apple anted to lock it into O2. I just bought payg and Jailbroke it. Being an avid apple fan I pre ordered and received the IP6 on release day. Have to say there are only so many ways to make a phone but the IP6 is really nice. However, the reception is shocking. The IP6 seems to drop cellular to No Service really easily when the IP5 still sits at 2 bars. Swapped the sim to check and it's the phone.

Let's have some honest answers, if the signal reception is weaker tell us now. I need the reception and a phone is now a phone so i'm getting to a point of practicality not brand. Let's hope the IP6 is as good as the rest.

I have exactly the same issue. My entire family switched to iphone from galaxy. We had excellent signal when we were on galaxy but now on iphone we get no signal most of the time. The best is 1-2 bars and absolutely no LTE the best we get is 4G with connection speed of 1mbps. And sometime when im on wifi it slows down randomly then i try to connect back to it, it became unstable on switching from wifi to 4g. And when i try to reconnect to the wifi by entering in the pw again, it tells me incorrect pw. When i have other devices connected to the wifi with the same pw.

I had to completely shut off the Enable LTE option (Settings, Cellular Data). Even when I had "data only" chosen, it only gave me 2 bars. When I turned the entire thing off, it gave me 4 which is the max in my house. #smh. Not sure what the LTE issue is; hardware, software or tower issues, but this does diminish the phone. Verizon is my carrier but I don't have the patience to sit on the phone with them.

Same issue.

Had the iphone 5s with t-mobile and it worked perfectly.

Switched to 6 and kept on having service issues (still with t-mobile).

Going from 1 bar to 5 bars to no service constantly. + TON of dropped calls (which rarely happened on iphone 5s)

I went to the apple store, they replaced it twice. Still same problem.

Went to t-mobile. They replaced the sim card and still same issue.

When I put my sim card in my old iphone 5s, it works very well.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with the phone...

Very frustrating 😟

I've been having horrible issues with my iPhone 6 16GB from Verizon. My wife usually calls me when she gets off of work. The only way she can get through to me 100% of the time is by doing Facetime Audio. Otherwise about 90% of the time, I do not get any calls when I'm at my house. Service has always been bad at my house, but with my previous iPhones, I could at least make and receive calls. Most of the time now I just get voicemails and have no missed calls.

My Verizon iPhone 6 has the same issues. My old Verizon 4S worked so well at home, I deleted my land-line. My 4S worked great for years, until IOS 8. Multiple problems with the 4S after IOS 8 forced my iPhone 6 purchase. I am using the iPhone 6 in the same house on the same street in the same town at the same desk in the same place that my iPhone 4S worked day in and day out with no issues. Now my iPhone 6 drops calls in places where my 4S worked well. I perform web-based training to rooms full of attendees at the other end of my phone line and Webex. If my calls drop, its very rude for the attendees, not to mention stressful for all. So my iPhone is costing me an additional $1,000/year, because I now need backup phone service - I put the landline back in. I am not sure what happened to the Apple quality service. The process they have me performing to prove the phone is bad is cruel and unusual punishment. I have, in effect, had 3 new iterations of my same phone, but sterile. None of my personal information is complete, my familiar files I am not allowed to access. I am tired of rearranging my apps to a familiar pattern. I forget to set the "quiet at nigh feature, so I am awoken in the middle of the night with notification sounds - so I am literally losing sleep over this. I am a busy, traveling person, so the next step is to take hours out of my day to go to an Apple Store and talk to a Genius, after making an appointment, of course. I agree, I am almost to my limit of how much of my time, money and resources I can give to Apple to a process of what seems to be "Beta" testing their hardware, software and apps. The new grail is a phone that works. It's nice to have apps and features, but not at the expense of phone connectivity. I have other odd problems, like not being able to hang-up on a call. This happened while speaking with an Apple Care Agent and while speaking with a Verizon Agent. After performing the sterile "new phone setup" for the 3rd time, my camera view went black if I attempted to access it on the lock screen. Apple Care tells me that "all things have problems" and "you can't buy anything that works anymore" and this is supposed to restore my faith in Apple products? I have been a Mac Evangelist sine the MacPlus. Macs were simple to use and worked well. Apple may be the new "dark side" and I have lost faith in Apple Customer Care.

Make sure you turn off Voice over LTE. Settings>Cellular>Enable LTE Data Only. This is not an Apple issue, it's a Verizon issue. In some areas, VoLTE does not work as well as CDMA.

Why don't you put it on a schedule so that it happens automatically? Settings>Do Not Disturb.

Yup.

Had an iPhone 5 on ATT for a couple years and never had a reception problem in my house. Bought a 16gb iPhone 6 two weeks ago and reception is just awful. 70% of conversations are completely unintelligible unless I'm outside or in a particular room with ear buds plugged in. And then moving the phone two inches can stop other person from understanding anything. Spouse has exactly the same problem with her four month old 16gb iPhone 6.

Using the field test mode (*3001#12345#*) in that particular room the typical signal strength on LTE ranges from -104 to -118 dB. Turning off LTE for voice didn't help at all, but turning LTE off completely results in -86 to -105 dB. (for reference -80 dB is good and -120 dB is very bad). I'm experimenting now with call quality without any LTE service.

Ear buds don't seem to change the measured signal strength, but do seem to improve call quality - perhaps transmission signal strength?

Mahalo, Meg, Voice over LTE has been off since the first instance of call dropping. Too bad. One of the big selling features Verizon asks you to consider and then specify is to have the extra good voice quality of this unfortunately problematic feature. For an old coot with hearing issues, the potential for better voice quality is desirable.

Yes, customizing a phone with a schedule is the answer. Unfortunately, Apple Care has me doing clean installs so often that I no longer have the time to go through all the customizations we know and adore and need to feel comfortable. I always use this feature, but long for the day when my phone works long enough to set it and forget it.

There's a reason Verizon isn't even actively promoting VoLTE, yet. It's not quite completely baked.

Sorry you're still having problems. I don't have any other suggestions at this time but I wish you the best.

After having my iPhone 6 for about six weeks, I had dropped calls and calls going to voicemail. With Apple support, I restored my phone which seemed to help the dropped calls but the caller's reception of my phone was still crackling and garbled. I went to Best Buy and received a new sim card. No improvement. Next stop was AT&T where we discussed what I did but nothing was changed. It was suggested that I go to the Apple store which I did. They checked over the phone and of course, all sounded good because I got up to 3 bars in the store. I came home and I was back to 1-2 bars and poor sound. Today, I went back to AT&T where AT&T said that I was in a "moderate" reception area and they would not allow me a Microcell so I bought it for $150 with a $75 rebate. Very easy setup and within 15 minutes had 5 bars on my phone with excellent reception. My husband's IPhone 4S has always had good reception and the Samsung Galaxy 4 I previously owned had no problems. I am grateful that I have the Microcell and reception.

Same problem here with Verizon. I wasn't getting calls at home. It is not a strong area but my old dumb Samsung phone worked fine. Also my wife's 5s works fine. Also it wouldn't work with my 2012 Toyota Sienna's bluetooth. I couldn't transfer my contacts accept manually either. I took it back and got the Samsung S6. So far so good with the reception, contacts transfer, and bluetooth compatibility.

We have four iPhones in my house. Two iPhone 4s & two iPhone 6. All are on Verizon. Outside everything works OK but indoors we constantly have issues with one way audio on the iPhone 6 where if someone calls you can here them but they can not hear you. If you walk outside the issue goes away. Not sure if this is a problem with the iPhone 6 or it its a Verizon 3G vs. LTE issue.
