I stayed up all night figuring this out and it finally worked. However, the apple support, nor my WiFi provider knew what to do. They are no help, and I agree with most of these posts, these products are too expensive to get such poor customer assistance. I hope my resolution helps... so here goes!

All you have to do is change the name of your network and the the pass code. I did this simply by just adding a number to the end of the current network name and the same number to the end of the pass code so it would be easily remembered. This will change nothing else. Unfortunately, everyone else will have to sign on again, but your devices will immediately pick up the new network name and it will work!

The hard part is that this has to be done through your IP address ( this information can be found under your network settings right on your computer under details), so you go to the internet and type in your IPV 4 router address just like you would type in a url, and it will take you to your server website. There you should have access to your WiFi settings to change this. However, it may ask you for a user name and a passcode to get access to your setting, and worst case scenario is you have to call your WiFi provider to help you out with this part, but whatever you do do not reset everything as this is what your provider will suggest..... That would be a nightmare. Just change the name of the network and the pass code, and it will work! I really hope this helps!

So my dad bought an iphone 6 and i solved the problem.

The problem was that my TV box had the same ip adress as my iphone 6 (192.168.0.16)

When ever i turned off my TV box, my wifi on iphone started to work.

So now, i just changed my iphones ip adress to 192.168.0.17 and its working now.

So be sure to look that the iphone doesnt have the same ip adress as anything else in your network.

It is so automatic or by default (DHCP), it gives different IP addresses to different devices.

But this time I decided just to reset my router (for other reasons not iphone related) and then it gave the same ip address that my TV BOX have

This has never happend to me, and i have sevral computers, printers, and phones connected to the router with diffrent ip adresses.

So check that the iPhone does not have the same IP address as anything else in your network.

Good luck!

This just started happening to my daughter's iPhone 6 last week. We were at a hotel and I could connect to wifi but she kept getting an "incorrect password" error. When we got home, she still could not connect to wifi but I could and we both have an iPhone 6. Apple told me to backup and do a factory reset, which I did but it did not solve the problem. I have tried resetting network settings, resetting the router, changing the password, eliminating the password, etc. and nothing has worked. I guess my next step is to take it to an Apple store because I am out of ideas.

Does your router have 2 bands - 2.4ghz and 5ghz? If so make sure that they both have the same password, the correct password. When it happened to me, for whatever reason my iphone started trying to log in only to the 5ghz band, while every other device was using the 2.4ghz band. The 2 bands did not have the same password. When made sure they both contained the correct password it worked fine. I don't know why that happened but check your router to make sure.

I'm not home right now so I can't check, but there is still an issue because she can't connect to any wifi networks. So even if we can get the home wifi issue fixed, she will still not be able to connect at any other places. In addition to the hotel wifi, she was not able to connect to my iphone when using it as a personal hotspot, or my work phone, which is a Windows phone. She is also not able to get onto her school's wifi. I have been on the phone with Apple for the past 2 nights with no solution, so I that is why I think a trip to the Apple store is my last resort.

3 more hours on the phone with Apple last night and still no resolution. I took it to the Apple store on Saturday and it was able to connect to their wifi. I then took it to a grocery store were it was able to connect again. When I got home ,I tried connecting to my wifi and it would not connect. I removed the wifi password and it finally connected. I then went back to put my password back because I didn't want to leave the network open, and it will no longer connect with the password on or off. I also tried connecting it to 2 other wifi hotspots and it would not connect.

Last night, Apple had me

1. change the network name

2. update the firmware of the router

3. change the wifi password

4. reset the router

5. do a factory restore of the phone

None of these worked. I have another iphone 6 running the exact same software version and it has no trouble connecting to my wifi. I also have 2 ipads, 2 Kindles, an iPhone 5 and a Samsung Galaxy in our home that do not have any trouble connecting to the wifi. The Apple tech is going to call me back tonight and push some new software to me to see if that helps. It seems like they are hung up on it being a router issue since it did connect at the Apple store, but if that were the case, why would it not connect to my personal hotspots or other wifi networks (hotel, school, friend's house). I think it has to be a software or hardware problem. I'm hoping the software they push me tonight fix it. I have spent countless hours trying to resolve this and it is very frustrating. But I will say that everyone I have talked to at Apple has been very pleasant and have thanked me for being so patient while they are trying to work through this.

I had the same issue and I've already posted my response, but let me clarify. I'm only restating it because it sounds exactly like what I went through, including the changing of my password back to the factory setting and having it work. My router is dual band. If I log into my router I can set Wifi setting for both the 2.4 GHz and 5GHz frequencies. I didn't notice this ar first, but there is a drop down box in my Wifi setting on the router that includes both frequencies. For whatever reason the iPhone was trying to log into the 5 GHz radio. I had only changed the password on the 2.4 GHz radio and then changed my iPhone to that same password. It woulds not log in because it was using the new password to try to log in to the 5GHz radio frequency, which I had not changed. When I finally realized that there were 2 groups of settings on the router for each of the 2 frequencies, I changed the 5GHz password to the same as the 2.4GHz password and made sure my iPhone was set to that same password and it all worked. So:

Reset the router to the factory password and make sure your iPhone is also set to that password. It should be able to connect.

Log into your router and go to the wireless settings. You should see a dropdown that allows you to change setting for both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies. Change the passwords for each, making sure they are the same. Save the settings.

Use this new password to log into Wifi on your iPhone. It should work.

Just curious. Did you just get the iphone or did this suddenly start getting this problem recently. If so, have you changed wifi providers or upgraded and received a new router?

Thanks for your help and I greatly appreciate it, but I don't think my router is a dual band. I am not at home right now so I can't check, but I don't recall seeing any options to select a band or have two passwords. I gave Apple all of my router information (model #, firmware, et.) and they tried to recreate it with various settings with no success. If it were a dual band issue, this would still not account for the fact that the phone can't connect to other hot spot or wifi networks.

We have had the phone since the end of September with no problems whatsoever. We were on vacation in another state when it started happening. We kept getting an "incorrect password" error message when trying to log into the hotel wifi even though the password we were using was correct and I was able to log into the same network with my identical iPhone 6. When we got home and she tried to log in to our home wifi, she got the password error. After about 10 tries, she was able to get connected, but then it dropped the connection about 5 minutes later. There was an iOS update available so I downloaded that to our laptop and installed it but it still would not connect to our wifi. On Saturday, I was able to get it to connect once to our home wifi without the password and a couple of times to my cell phone hotspot, but then as soon as the phone went into sleep mode, the connection was lost and I haven't been able to get it to connect to any wifi networks since then. We have had the same wifi provider and router for about 3 years and nothing has changed. The Apple rep that I have been dealing with is also concerned because there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason when I am occasionally able to get it to connect. Thanks again for all the suggestions. I will look at my router tonight to verify for sure if it is dual band or not.

I haven't been able to connect to my home wifi since I got my iphone 6 in march. I have an iphone 5 and macbook that can access just fine. I saw this post:

New solution found.

Running iOS 8.1.2 on a new iPhone 6. Trying to connect to my home wireless router - getting the same error message.

Worked all of the online suggestions on this Apple site and web in general. Talked with Apple support for 20 minutes. Apple had me connect to another wireless router (iPhone running personal hotspot) which would work. Apple said obviously a router problem.

While my other phones and devices could connect to the router, the new iPhone would not. The problem: router had Access Control on. My NetGear R6250 blocks even the guest access in this mode. The new phone's MAC had to be entered into the Access Control list. Once entered, phone connects without issues.

That may be why your other devices connect and the new one doesn't. Or why your new router, without Access Control on, works when the older router would not."

So I tried that by googling a few things to figure out how to access my router and ended up messing my whole internet up by only allowing access to my new iphone, which wouldn't connect to the internet anyways. I ended up calling my internet provider. they had me reset my modem (pushing through the little hole in the back with a paperclip) and after an hour of nothing working, they reset my password. After I hung up I did the modem reset again and tried the new password and it worked! I finally could connect to my home wifi on my iphone. Hopefully, this or other suggestions help!
