iPhone 6 with Health App / Cycling tracking broken?

Hi guys -

Wondering if you guys have tried cycling with an iPhone 6?

I was hoping that the M8 chip would be able to track my cycles? - While it works with steps-taken and distance covered, it doesn't seem to recognise I've been riding my bike.

Here's how it looks on my ip6 after my cycle today...

Is it broken? Is my phone broken?

Let me know if you guys have had this issue also.

Cheers!

You have to down load a recommended app. I did not figure it out until reading your question (same as mine and apparently others) Go to link. Additionally, if you cannot find the download app in health to attach, google how to attach downloaded app to health. Mine now appears to work. This is a bit much clearly by everyones frustration. They should have a video in the app how to do this. Use the Health app on your iPhone or iPod touch - Apple Support

I'm having the same problem. My daily ride to and from work doesn't show up. If I may ask, how fast do you usually go? I'm a slow cyclist (usually 10 - 12 MPH), so I thought maybe it was an issue of a certain threshold of speed having to be reached before movement was recognized as bicycling. If rides are not showing up even at higher speeds, then maybe it's a different cause.

I've gone every range from slow to pretty fast (nearing 20 mphs down big hills). My understanding is that the health app is supposed to automatically track cycling (just as the pedometer does for walking). However, I've ben reading a lot of third party app makers who want to tie into the health app have been stalled (or are releasing their app minus the link to the health app on the iPhone) because of issues. So seems like we're stuck waiting for an iOS8 patch/update to fix the issue. Pedometer works great. Even works when on "airplane" mode and your cellular/data is off which is nice.

I'm having the same problem. My daily ride to and from work doesn't show up, also all my test rides doesnt show up in the Health App.

I'm hoping this is a software error (HealthKit) and not an M8 Chip error. Apple has some problems with the HealthKit and outside app support, therefore they pulled back all apps that where updated to use (link) to the HealthApp. I don't think that has something to do with the M8 not register the cycling data.

None, because there aren't any apps that are HealthKit ready. (Bug in HealthKit)

But the M8 doesn't need an app to log the data, the M8 logs the data just like it does for Walking and Running, Steps ect.

The issue is that the M8 doesnt seem to log the cycling data and therefore isnt showing it in the HealthKit just like the Walking and Running ect.

One of my testrides:

Runkeeper detected a 2.44km bike ride. The M8 COproccessor has No data.
