Why can't I download or update apps on iPad running iOS 8

Since a few days I am doing fine after total erasure, deleting apps (yes WSJ too), hard reboots etc. My question is whether Apple has come out yet with any kind of explanation or statement on this. The please let me know.

Try the following:

- double-click home button and shut down all apps which use Newsstand (by swiping vertically) - this prevents them from loading at startup

- restart the iPad Air

- Do not open any apps which require Newsstand

- go to App Store and download whatever apps you want - they should start loading

This works for me on iphone 5 and ios 8.02 - remove WSJ app; log off itune account; hard restart the iphone; log in itune again; and all the updates start to downloading.

I tried this and it didn't work. Why do the users have to figure this out?? Shouldn't Apple create a fix?

and I can download NY Times, but not WSJ. Go figure

I did this, it worked for a few days then the same **** problem

Remove the Newstand App completely and then shut off the wifi. Then shot the iPad off and restart it again. after it restarts, put on the wifi and make sure everything else has downloaded and working. Then you can re-download the Newstand App.

I agree. This would have never happened on Steve Jobs' watch.

I've tried everything. Including resetting my iPad air twice. The last time allowed me to update apps OTA for about a week. Today, it started again. Come on Apple, fix this problem.

If none of these things work, I suggest you drop it from the Empire State Building Observation Tower. That should definitely do it.

I also have this problem. I have 8.0.2 on both my iphone and ipad. The Iphone will update apps with no problem, but the ipad will show the circle, but no progress on the download. I have reset it many times, deleted apps and tried reinstalling them. Nothing. 8.0.2 seems to have a big problem with ipads.

Try deleting the Newsstand App and then sign out of iTunes. Then restart the iPad.

I have signed in and out of ITunes many times with no effect. I have also cold re-booted the ipad several times ... also no effect. Why delete Newstand?

The newsstand app is one of those apple apps that cannot be deleted. How did you do this?
