Why can't I download or update apps on iPad running iOS 8

Updated my iPad Air to iOS 8. Apps requiring updates and any new app downloads I tried on my iPad Air have been sitting in wait status for hours. I did the following to try to correct the problem but with no success...

- Turned off and restarted the ipad

- reset the iPad without losing previous data

- signed out of iTunes account and signed back in.

My cellular and wifi router are working fine. My iPhone 5 update and iPad mini updates to ios8 worked fine and new apps and any updates are downloading without any problems. I have auto download turned in for apps so when I initiate an app download on my iPad Air, it downloads fine onto my iPad mini even though it is "hung up" on my iPad Air.

Is there anything else I should try before taking the radical step of wiping clean my iPad Air?

I Have the same problem. Had an IPAD 4 couldnt download updates so took it to apple store. Genius reset my network and fixed it for 1 day. Then I Traded it in on an IPAD Air and after 4 days same problem. Obviuosly app store doesnt work in IOS8.

UPdate - I took the advice about removing the wsj app and it fixed the problem immediately. I re-installed wsj and everything still works several days later.

None of the fixes worked for me. I finally deleted the apps that were 'waiting' to be downloaded, no luck. I have my iPad backed up to my computer, can I do a restore with that, and get it. Back to the way it was before. or does it only back up files? I haven't had a chance to hook my iPad up to the computer yet.

Safari is is buggy as heck too. For instance, when I tap on the password field here to log in, it takes me the home page, so I have to tap on the area around it. Sometimes it freezes when I type, which I think is the predictive typing thng, and it will capitalize the second letter of the first word in a sentence. Worst, drop downs won't stay down once you lift your finger off them. 😕

I don't believe Apple isn't aware of this issue and trying to fix it, it just isn't good business sense (so I have heard), to admit there is a problem with your product.

SSame problem here.

have spoken with Apple support. They were stumped and sent me to Genius Bar.

Genius was stumped, too.

I took the iPad to the U.S., to the Netherlands, and to Spain. That didn't help.

but when I connected to the Internet in London, everything magically worked. All apps updated. I could download new things from all of the Apple services.

Things continued to work when I returned to Spain. They worked in Hong Kong. And the continued to work in Australia.

But when I connected again to the wifi network in Australia through which I loaded iOS8 and 8.0.2, the problem recurred.

I was at my wits end with the same problems as everyone else on my iPad3 ... could not download / update apps, movies, TV programs, etc. I tried EVERYTHING in previous posts except the factory reset. Then I saw ARK11's post and the link taking me to an article and discussion. In the comments section several of the commentators noted having problems with the WSJ app, which doesn't surprise me because its had huge problems in the past. The advice was to delete the WSJ app. I did and success! My pending apps to update suddenly dropped from 27 to 12. I could update apps and download my TV programming again from the iTunes story. I hope it lasts but wanted to share in case others are running the WSJ app ... could be your culprit.
