Itunes playcount too high

Hi there. I just downloaded the latest Itunes (for Windows) and updated my Ipod Touch (gen 5) to iOS 8, and now every time I play a song (on my Ipod), the play count won't get updated properly. Listening a song once increases the playcount randomly. Sometimes it increases with 1, but in many cases, it increases with 2, 3 or 5 or even up to 20. I never had this issue before. The playcount was always spot on. Now, it is total trash. Why is this and how can I fix this?

Note: only happens on my Ipod. If I play a song on Itunes itself (on my computer), the playcount increases properly.

I have a MBP, iTunes Match, iPod Classic, iPhone 6 (which I never play music on) and I have random play counts that sprout to 100 plus. Been happening for at least a year...annoying behind belief!

Soo annoying, why isn't anyone at Apple fixing this problem? Too hard? Not enough people who has this problem?

I have reinstalled on my computer and iphone but stil have this problem. My musiclist are not so "smart" anymore.

Anyone who have a solution?

There has to be something that I do not understand. iTunes is a program that plays sound files. iTunes used to work very well. How can you destroy a simple program that plays sound files? My main argument against switching to Android, was all the time I have spent collecting and ordering music in my iTunes Library - including a lot of complicated Smart Playlists. Apple - thanks for F**KING all that up!!!

I have the same problem, my whole iTunes is a complete mess, I spent way too much time to take care of my library, this problem is very annoying and it seem to affect a lot of people ! Please do something Apple, everyday my iTunes is more and more fuc*ed with this problem...

Today, I played some songs on my iPhone 4S. When I connected the phone into my iMac, I noticed that the play count had increased. Some of the songs on the computer were originally zero, but unfortunately they have increased as it continued to sync into the computer. Do you know what could I do to stop this from happening?

I've found the play counter and the synchronizing of play counts to be one of the more unreliable things in iTunes, so I ignore the functionality entirely.
